With the days getting warmer and fashions of shorts beckoning, I decided it was time to get summer ready!
Being a low maintainance-ish kind of girl, I wasn’t quite sure where to start. So, a few days ago, I popped to the HUGE Superdrug store in Westfield, London to see what could entice me and make me look fab.
There were lots of products on offer, but my main thoughts were banishing my cellulite (as much as possible anyway), smooth soft skin, and finding some wrinkle stuff so that I could combat all the sunshine squinting damage. And, with 3 for 2 across all skincare, it seemed like a great opportunity to fill up my basket and get set for summer.
But, just doing this once is not enough to be summer ready – people who look good are often dedicated to their skincare routine. However, being a busy bee, and liking my sleep, I challenged myself to fitting my new Set-for-Summer routine into my normal morning to see if I could be summer ready and still be on time for work.
HERE’S HOW I GOT ON:
Stumble blearily into the shower and while the conditioner is on your hair, grab Garnier BodyTonic Sugar Scrub, £6.99, which promises to exfoliate dead skin cells and leaves your skin soft and smooth. It really does, and what’s more, my hands were nice and soft too, from the work out I gave them
Â
After showering put toast in the toaster, the kettle on and grab some Nivea Body Good-Bye Cellulite Smoothing Gel-Cream, £9.99, which actually takes longer to say than it does to apply.
.
Sort out those squinting wrinkles with Olay Anti-Wrinkle Classic Deep Wrinkle Treatment, £9.99. Sent to me by Superdrug, this is pecifically designed to combat your more pronounced facial wrinkles – think forehead and eyes – it promises, with daily use to visibly reduce wrinkles and make skin look smoother and younger. Obviously no instant results here, but here’s hoping – I normally like Olay products and it went on easily enough and didn’t feel too heavy!
.
Eat toast with one hand,
dry hair with other using usual products.
Â
.
Apply usual moisturiser – I am still using L’Oreal Youth Code, see my review here and it’s great.
Superdrug had also sent me L’Oreal’s new Volume Million Lashes, £7.99, in black and I was quite excited about trying it – although unsure whether massive lashes would pass as minimal make-up. It promises no clumps and there’s apparently a built-in Excess Wiper that erm… wipes off the excess.
With minutes to go, I popped it on and…
DISASTER!
My lashes were spidery and clumpy!
Not quite sure how this happened – the description said that the pop when you pull the brush out proves the wiper is working but being deaf, I couldn’t hear a pop.
Spidery clumpy lashes are not a good look, so I grabbed a brow brush and pulled it through my lashes, which took off the excess the Excess Wiper was supposed to but they didn’t look great to tell you the truth.
Anyway, clothes on and ready to go, all that was left was to slick on some L’Oreal Glam Shine in Sheer Cassis, £6.99, (Cheryl’s colour, don’t you know?!).
This non-sticky lip gloss has a heart-shaped wand that made for easy application and while not minimal either, it kind of went with my no-longer-clumpy-but-still-not-fab Volume Million eyelashes!
And then all that was left was to go to work – Summer ready? Erm no, but it’s a good start.
Next stop?
Fake tan I think…

Wow can’t wait to go shopping!
may give the mascara is a miss!
