OK, I’m definitely one of those people who upon noticing an advert, immediately wants to try a product to see if the advert is true! From food and drink to make-up and skincare, if the advert looks good, I’m there!

So, it’s not surprising, in addition to the latest moisturiser, Youth Code, I’ve been more than a little intrigued by L’Oreal’s other latest offerings – Matte Morphose Foundation and Perfect Clean cleanser.

Thrilled at the chance to try them both out, here’s what I thought:

Matte Morphose Foundation, £9.99, has been given the thumbs up by plenty of magazines this month – described by the peeps at L’Oreal as having a feather-light soufflé texture that extends seamlessly across the skin for a transformation you can see and feel, it looks a little like the Count on us Chocolate Mousse from Marks & Spencer. However, that’s where all similarities end.

First application of this, I went a bit overboard and ended up wiping it off and starting all over again as I looked a little ‘caked’. Second time around, I worked out that rather than using for all-over coverage you can put it where you need it. My main problem areas are my cheeks and chin and I was extremely happy with the coverage on both – it wasn’t flawless, but it did hide blemishes and uneven skin tone quite well and glossed over a few dry-skin problem patches, too.

The only thing I wasn’t sure about was that even when only used in problem areas it was quite heavy – and I still found myself reaching for my usual liquid foundation in preference to Matte Morphose in the morning – but then that might be related to my skin type as I gave a pot to a friend with oily skin to try and she loved it.

Anyway, on we go to Perfect Clean cleanser, £4.99, which comes complete with ‘The Scrublet’. Enticed completely by the gimmicky-ness of this product, I confess I washed my face with it before the day was up just to see what it was like, and I’m sold.

I’m not a huge fan of face washes normally – I tend to use a tea tree cleanser and make-up remover or a bar of soap in the shower, so this was something of a novelty.

I like the idea of The Scrublet – it allows you to tackle specific areas, by massaging it in circular motions, and it also means you can keep the product away from your delicate eye area – something I’ve always failed at in the past with my clumsiness.

I also like the choices available so you can tailor the product to your skin type – from Soothing, Refreshing, Purifying and Exfoliating – and the one I tried, Refreshing, was definitely that. My skin felt squeaky clean.

So for those of you out there who are as enticed by the adverts as I am – I’m giving L’Oreal another thumbs up!
