*CATCHY/ANNOYING THEME TUNE*
Welcome back to Treat Mate! If you want to catch up on the blogisodes you have missed in this exciting series then you can do so here and here. This has been the chance for me to match up my mates with some of the amazing treats sent to me for this final challenge, just like Davina Mccall did with people in the 90’s dating show Street Mate!
After reading all these amazing reviews from my friends I couldn’t resist trying some things for myself! I am sure at some point Davina must have kept a hot man from the street for herself…
The Treat(s)
Bloom Sheer Colour Cream in Rosie
Bloom Shadow Liner in Ebony Brown
2 True Fast Dry Colour Quick Polish in shade 1
The Mate
ME!
A scatty blogger with an obsession with beauty from head to toe.
First Impressions: I love the fresh and expensive looking packaging on the Bloom cosmetics and the shadow liner is genius, the tip looks the perfect flat shape for applying as a liner. The colour cream looks a great consistency and I love the newly re packaged slim 2True nail varnish with a really handy flat brush.
The Date: I was dying to try Bloom out for a while and instantly fell in love with these two products. The shadow liner went on like a dream in seconds with no fuss or mess due to the unique square shape of the tip, it lasted really well and didn’t smudge- unless I wanted it to by using a brush! The shade I received was rich and intense and created a lovely twist on the smokey eye. The colour cream was amazing to wear just on its own as a quick and easy blush or as a highlighter for the cheek bones and under brow and even as a cute lip tint. It had great staying power too, a really versatile and handy pot. I loved the nail varnish, it was so easy to apply, took two simple coats and then lasted for days without chipping!
Will we be seeing each other again? DEFINATELY! I loved, loved, loved all three products, I have already been into Superdrug to eye up my next shadow liner ( hello Midnight Blue!) It is a little pricier than other brands but the quality and design means it is really worth it. The colour cream went straight into my make up bag I carry around as it is so easy to apply I can use it to top up at the end of the day and it wont smash or break in my bag like a powder would. The nail varnish I have worn so many times since I got it,I will no doubt need another one soon, when it is three 2True items for a fiver I know exactly what I will be getting it along side.
I am so pleased with the outcome of my cheeky Treat Mate Myself as I have discovered a new brand that I blooming (!) love and my nails have got a much needed colour boost! I was photographing the bloom make up after a long day at work so to freshen it up I used the Scandalous Fabulously Flirty Dry Shampoo which I was also really pleased with, it went on with less of the annoying white residue that other brands have and I liked the scent. It definitely gave my hair good texture and volume and soaked up the daily grease. I was happy to get the chance to try some of this fab new range seeing as all my friends were raving about it, and right now you can get any of these products for £3.50 each, bargain!
I have adored doing this final challenge. Getting to treat my friends and share the fun I have had this summer thanks to Superdrug has been amazing. Not only that but I have discovered some amazing new products that I was not aware of before and hope you all have too.
Thank You so much to Superdrugloves for giving me this amazing experience and allowing me to share my thoughts on here for the summerand thanks to everyone for reading. Myself and all the other lovely bloggers are really lucky to be allowed to carry on writing here until Christmas so I look forward to bringing you more reviews in the coming months.
Much love,
Bx
Everyone’s heard of Superdrug, right?
It’s certainly been a staple part of my shopping experience since I was in my teens – from Collection 2000 and Exclamation body spray in year 9 to miniature perfumes and Oxy cleanser in year 10.
So here’s the thing, what about the people who are too young to have really heard about Superdrug yet? What if I could get to them, before say, Boots did?
Then I would be creating a loyal breed of consumers, just ready and waiting to shop ’til they dropped…
And so that’s what I decided to do.
RAISING MONEY
Calling on four of the fabbest girls I know – the ‘Fab Four’ – I invited them, and a host of other people, to a Superdrugloves.com Blog Benefit Sale in aid of UNICEF’s Pakistan flood relief fund.
I’ve been trying to think up a way to raise money for Pakistan since the flooding happened and UNICEF’s appeal really struck a chord with me as it looks after children, who often cannot look after themselves. I thought if we could make the even the tiniest difference, then that had to be better than nothing, right?
And now, about the girls – all gorgeous, and all beginners with the concept of make-up, facemasks and other such girly things. And quite rightly so, because they’re all under 12.
However, there’s nothing to say that in applying make-up they have to end up looking like baby beauty queens. I wanted them to explore, have fun, spray things, spritz things, paint things and
enjoy themselves so that when they are finally old enough to think about make-up and beauty stuff seriously, they’ll think of Superdrug.
So, let’s get to it shall we.
THE SALE

Included in the sale were all the fabulous goodies sent to me in my last brown paper package tied up with string, minus the shampoos and conditioners from the Scandalous range because, honestly, I was desperate to try them out myself – a review of which will feature later this week.
Also included in the sale, was a collection of things from Superdrug that I had stored carefully after the initial testing, plus a few little bits and bobs I’d bought for the occasion.
And, just so I could keep track of everything, and also find out a little bit about my consumers, everyone had to fill in a questionnaire relating to Superdrug and the sale.
LONDON COUSIN 1
First up, was London Cousin 1. She’s 10 and on the Superdrug Blog Benefit Questionnaire listed her staple beauty brands as TRESemmé and Pantene. She pounced on the Barry M Emerald Green nail polish, listing her reason for buying it as, ‘I loved the vibrant green – it’s so cool!’
LONDON COUSIN 2
London Cousin 2, who’s 8, has never shopped at Superdrug, and listed Colgate toothpaste as her beauty staple! Teehee! When she’s older I’m going to teach her how brilliant that is for spots as well as teeth, but in the meantime, she was much too interested in the 2True Glitter Mascara, and a face pack…
MINI BLANCO
Then, there was Mini Blanco – she’s 10 and likes Pantene, but soon declared that she’s moving onto bigger and better things with the Superdrug’s new Scandalous range – she pocketed the Intensively Glossy Rescue Treatment because she loved the smell of it and as her hair was always knotty this might solve the problem. She also enthusiastically got to grips with the Barry M Glitter Lashes (available in store), which she thought was, ‘funky and cool’. She then stumbled across a face mask, which for some reason became her foundation! Perhaps the most enthusiastic of my Superdrug Protégés, this was her finished look!
MIDI BLANCO
And the final member of the Fab Four was Midi Blanco. She was a (shhhh) Natural Collection fan, but I soon changed that! Keen to make sure her money was well spent, she tried out five different nail polishes before choosing the Revlon Nail Enamel in Red Hot Tamale because it looked the smoothest. She also chose the Revlon Va Va Violet Super Lustrous Lipstick because, she said, ‘It looked surprisingly good on me!’ So that’s that then – move over Natural Collection, Revlon’s here!
Honestly, my four Superdrug protégés took to the task with more enthusiasm than I could ever have imagined. They backcombed and set their hair in place with Scandalous Flaunt It Firm Hold Hair Spray, they applied face masks and eye shadow and bright red lipsticks with glee, and they discovered the art of applying mascara and nail polish with care so that it didn’t go everywhere – well almost everywhere.
SPREADING THE WORD
And then, they declared, they wanted to take the campaign to the streets. Spread the word about Deafinitely Girly and Superdrug, and show off their new looks.
And so, we did.
Armed with my advertising board, and with Maxi Blanco filming, we hit the main road near the sale venue and what fun the Fab Four had.
‘Shop at Superdrug,’ they told passers-by, grinning with enthusiasm. At one point they actually stopped traffic, which they then used as an opportunity to spread the word even more.
It was amazing. I had succeeded in finding Superdrug’s future customers today, and I had raised a total of £75 for UNICEF!
And, so long as Superdrug has plenty of hair spray, glittery things and nail polish, these four are going to be very happy customers!
Look out Superdrug, they’re on their way…
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
*Special thanks go to London Aunt, Mrs Blanco, Riddles of Mind and Danish Pastry for their amazing enthusiasm on the day, too! Mainly Clarins fans, I had them ooohing and aahing at the new Scandalous Haircare range, fighting over GOSH Velvet Touch Foundation Primer, Superdrug Mango & Papaya Body Polish, and Superdrug Cocoa Butter Body Butter, and enthusing about T-Zone’s Instant Action Spot Zapping Stick and Instant Fix 6 Nose Strips, the latter of which, I’m afraid I won the fight for, as I had been wanting to try them for ages! And of course, let’s not forget the wonderful Maxi Blanco who was a brilliant help – she’s 14, and went away with the biggest beauty bag out of everyone. Originally an ‘occasional’ shopper at Superdrug, she’s now a fan of the 2True make-up range, the Scandalous Haircare range and the Vitamin E Illuminating Cream.
We may not have much of the summer left but that’s no reason to let your look suffer. Girls Aloud’s funky eyelash sets may be the way to bring some colour to your summer!
Designed for festival wear, the fake eyelashes each have a unique detail which makes them far more exciting than day to day lashes. Plus, they come with a carry pouch to make storing them easy.
Priced at a generous £5, I think they’re a steal!
Which Girls Aloud lashes are for you?
Sarah HardingJust like Sarah these lashes are bold and loud. With each individual lash having maximum volume and length and that added red design, these lashes can’t help but make a striking statement. Teamed up with red jewellery; the Sarah lashes are the ultimate summer festival buy. Stand out from the crowd this summer with these lashes.
Kimberley WalshKimberley has designed sexy festival lashes. The tips of the long black lashes have a double feather at the corner to elongate the lashes further and create an individual look. These lashes are feminine and flirty, ideal for dazzling the boys. As they are black they can be worn with pretty much any outfit.
Nadine CoyleThe Nadine lashes are colourful and girly. The lashes themselves are simple in design as they have a standard shape to the lash, but they are emphasised with length and volume. The festival inspired difference to these lashes is that they have multi-coloured gems at the top of them, designed to replace the boring black line drawn by eyeliner.
Cheryl ColeEveryone loves Cheryl Tweedy/Cole (whatever she wants to be called these days) and I’m sure these lashes will be the best seller. The lashes match her vibrant but sophisticated personality. They are volumous and black and have a gold tint at the tip of each individual lash. These eyelashes are ideal for many occasions as they are not too overpowering; due to the glamorous black and gold colour scheme.
Nicola RobertsThese elegant lashes designed by Nicola are beautiful and sparkly. They are black and silver in colour with glitter flecks within them. The lashes are emphasised with a silver butterfly design that creates an attractive look for the summer. Nicola is the Girls Aloud member with the least coverage, but she has designed her lashes to elegantly make you stand out from the crowd.
I must say, I’m a fan of Nadine’s lashes. I love a bit of colour on my eyes, especially because I have so many black clothes in my wardrobe. These lashes would help my eyes stand out and would help create the ultimate summer look.

Welcome to Deafinitely Girly’s first ever Beauty Awards!
When I started on this journey with Superdrug over one year ago, I never imagined I would get to try out so many fantastic products, have so many amazing experiences and meet (cyberly) so many fantastic people.
But now, with a year of trying things under my belt, of going back to products I trialled for a week and trying them again, and of consistent usage of some things, what products have made the cut in DG’s Beauty Awards?
HAIRCARE
Best Shampoo: John Frieda Go Blonder, £4.79 (3 for £10) I loved this shampoo. It made my hair feel glossy and brighter and I had plenty of compliments when using it, too.
Best Conditioner: John Frieda Go Blonder £4.79 (3 for £10) This conditioner was the perfect partner to the shampoo and I like them both so much I have treated myself to the miniature versions so that I can use them even when I am away.
Both Go Blonder products were written about HERE
Best Styling Product: GOSH Salt Of Mine Wet ‘N Dry Saltwater Spray, £4.39, available in store This fab product gives you that beach-babe look without having to set foot in the sea! Great for festival chic, this has been a summer staple of mine, and it’s particularly useful for rescuing me from those bad hair days.
DG’s Special Award: Batiste Dry Shampoo, £2.09 A must after the gym or just for reviving tired hair before a night out. The entire range smells great and my brunette friends love the coloured version, too. I first wrote about it HERE
SKINCARE
Best Facial Moisturiser: L’Oreal Youth Code REJUVENATING ANTI-WRINKLE DAY CREAM, £9.99 First written about HERE, this is now a beauty cupboard staple for me – having used it constantly since Superdrug sent it to me first time around, I love the way it keeps my skin soft but doesn’t clog it and lead to breakouts.
Best Cleanser: L’Oreal Perfect Clean Refreshing Foaming Gel Wash, £3.99 I am actually on my second bottle of this amazing face wash. I was sceptical about the ‘scrublet’ at first, thinking it was a gimmick, but it really does leave your face feeling super clean but without that tight, dryness often associated with face washes. See what I originally thought, HERE!
BODYCARE
Best Moisturiser: Nivea Body Good-Bye Cellulite Smoothing Gel-Cream, £9.99 I will love my legs! That is my daily mantra, and has been since I originally wrote about this cream HERE. Nivea Good-Bye Cellulite makes it much easier for me to do just that!
Best Fake Tan: Sublime Bronze Pro Spray 150ML Light, £10.99 Not a sun worshipper, this saves the day and prevents people from exclaiming, ‘Oooh, well you can’t have been on holiday this summer, can you?’ while eyeing up my English rose complexion!
DG’s Bargain Choice: Into Glamour Impulse fragrance, £1.79 My blast from the past, first reviewed HERE, I keep a can of this in my gym bag and desk drawer for those erm… ‘smell nice’ emergencies!
NAILCARE
Best Nail Polish: 2true range, £1.95 each or 3 for £5 At 3 for £5 what’s not to love. Colour goes on evenly and stays on. A great-value product with professional results. See my original chatter about 2true HERE
Best Nail Polish Remover: Bourjois Gentle Nail Enamel Remover – available in store I got this last year from London Fashion Week – and originally wrote about it HERE. I love this product and have actually just run out, so it’s on my next Superdrug Shopping List. It literally causes nail polish to vanish and doesn’t leave nails chalky white as other brands can.
MAKE-UP
Best Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, £9.99 In a nutshell, this smells great, looks great and gets me lots of compliments! See it in action HERE!
Best Bronzer: Bourjois Bronzing Powder, £6.99 All of the above and ideal of chocolate fans
Best Blusher: Bourjois Pastel Joues Blusher, £6.99 Another winner from Bourjois, this is the perfect finishing touch to the foundation and bronzer.
Best Eye Shadow: Revlon Colorstay 12 Hour Eye Shadow Quad Sultry Smoke, £7.99 This fabulous shadow kit allows the creation of numerous looks and can be blended, shaded, used as a liner or mixed and matched with other Revlon Shades – a truly versatile addition to the make-up bag that was first reviewed HERE!
Best Mascara: L’Oreal’s new Volume Million Lashes, £10.99 Honestly, when I first wrote about this mascara, HERE, I was not overly impressed. But, it’s living proof that first impressions should not always be the only ones. Having gone back to this, it’s now my favourite mascara of the moment.
Best Lipgloss/stick: L’Oreal Glam Shine in Sheer Cassis, £6.99 OK, so I will never look like Cheryl Cole, but I can try with this non-sticky yummy purse-sized gloss! See it on me, HERE!
DG’s Special Award: 2True Make-up range – for brilliant choice and up-to-date trends at budget-friendly prices. Love it all! Want it all! Have possibly bought it all!
Best External Brand at Superdrug: L’Oreal Throughout my time at Superdrug, new L’Oreal products have continued to impress me. I’m excited to see what’s next for this company…
And that’s it for my yearly review! It’s been an amazing journey so far… thank you Superdrug.
Today I went to visit my lovely local Superdrug store which is in the Golden Square Mall, Warrington.
My aim for today was to go round the store and pick out some items which are almost hidden gems of Superdrug, and introducing them to you! I was kindly given £20 to spend on some products and review them later on, which I’ll be doing in my follow-up post.
Hey it’s me! With Dal, Deafinitely Girly and Phoebe in Superdrug’s “Little Book of Summer”. Still loving being in an insider second time around.
So firstly, I introduced myself to the Duty Manager Lynette. She took me on a mini tour telling me of the offers on at the moment. One offer that caught my eye was that the whole range of MUA (Make up Academy) was £1! Yes £1!!! So I spent a good 10 minutes ogling and deciding what to buy. Lynette was singings it praises, telling me how amazing the nail varnishes were and she was right – perfect colour range. These are proving very popular at the moment with Superdrug customers!
Lynette
The MUA range is heavily promoted on the Superdrug site. There’s eye glitter, mascara, lipstick, eye shadows, eye dust, bronzers, blushers, nail varnishes, lipgloss and eyeliner in their range, which is a pretty good range I have to admit. And as everything is only one hundred english pennies I think you can afford to buy a whole new array of goodies to keep looking good! Definite gem #1. Gems which I just had to spend my voucher on!
My favourites out of the nail varnish range.
Another range which I was particularly impressed with is BeautyUK. Their pastel and neon colours are so on trend right now. Totally loving the light beige and mint green!
They also do beautiful make up palettes which stood out to me – love their paint palette style packaging and complimenting colours.
Moving on from make up, the main thing I was after today was Dry Shampoo for my new brown barnet! I only discovered recently that a Brunette range is now available which I was ecstatic about; I found the normal version very difficult to rub into dark hair and left it looking quite patchy and grey – not a good look! I can safely say the Brunette version is brilliant and keeps my hair looking fresh between washes – exactly what it says on the tin! However at £2.99 its a step up price-wise from Batistes normal range. Hopefully it’ll fall in price when its been on the market for a couple of months, my poor student self can only hope!
I’d always been surprised how I never saw other brands bringing out their own dry shampoo – but I was proved wrong! Lynette showed me Superdrug’s new own range – find it in store now!
Another aspect of Superdrug I’ve picked up on lately is their false nails range. Can’t believe how good it is! I have to admit I’d never been a fan of false nails and thought they looked tacky, especially the french manicure style ones. However, I’ve really opened my eyes to them recently and can’t believe how much I’ve been missing out on!
Amazing range
So for another hidden gem, Here is Urban Rebel!
They specialise in gorgeous designs like leopard and lace print to jazz up dull nails! I love how whenever I wear them I catch glimpses of them throughout the day and the novelty never wears off. Their nail glue is brilliant too and whenever I’ve worn them in the past – not once have they fallen off. I’ve bought another design with my £20 gift voucher so stay tuned for a post flaunting them!
So, Superdrug: copious amounts of make up – check. Hair care – check. False nails – check. Jewellery and accessories – CHECK! Okay, so Superdrug wouldn’t usually be your number one choice when it comes to this area. I’ll admit I never even realised they sold them until last year (definitely too busy checking out the make up…). But competing with other stores, I think Superdrug have really stepped up. Their accessories range is something I’d buy now. I’m such a huge jewellery fiend, buying them as much – and if not more than clothes so this is only fueling my habit!
loving the corsages, jewellery ring and heart earrings.
With £20 to spend, I was finding it hard to stick to my budget with all the tempting items on offer. I did go slightly over 5 english pounds but with a festival to attend at the weekend approaching, I needed some basic products to keep looking fresh. But thats for another time – I’ll be back tomorrow with my buys.

ALL THIS!
What an amazing challenge. Go and investigate my local Superdrug and spend a free voucher- best fun ever. If you haven’t read my original post on what my Superdrug is like catch up here. I was delighted with my purchases and was excited to share my haul with you!
Pantene Aqua Light Shampoo is something I have read so much about since its launch. I have annoyingly greasy hair which means putting even a sniff of conditioner near it turns it to a chip pan mess. Thankfully Pantene has answered the greasy call of myself and so many others and come up with this incredibly lightweight and ‘virtually weightless’ formula. Silicone in hair products is terrible for creating build up so they have completely minimised it in this product and it really helps. It lathers really well and then rinses incredibly clean without spending ages trying to get it all out, after using it my hair was so light and really had bounce- just like the spokesperson for this range- Ms Cat ‘hair bounce’ Deeley. It was only £1.75 for a huge bottle and it now sits proudly in my shower. I am excited t0 try the rest of the range as I totally recommend this shampoo.
L’Oreal Lash Renewal Serum-Lashes are big right now, Well at least you want them to be and there has been a huge boom in serums designed for twice a day application that apparently conditions and nourishes the lash encouraging advanced growth and repair. The problem however is the price, a lot of these retail from £40- £100+ which I cannot justify no matter how much I crave thicker and longer lashes. Then L’Oreal came along with their far more affordable version,at £10.99and with a voucher burning a hole in my pocket I was keen to try it out. I wont be able to give much thought on it until I have used it for a lot longer but so far I am happy with it. Many people who have used it have said that their eyes were a little stingy after applying and that it really clumped their mascara together but so far I have had neither problem. I actually find it works nicely under my mascara and already it looks as though my lashes look in a little better condition ( although I definitely could be imagining it!) But I am enjoy the routine of putting it on and paying a little more attention and caring for them. I also read that it works well applying a little to the eyebrows which I am giving a try as I could certainly use a little more growth in that area.
I couldn’t resist a couple of little make up pieces as a treat and as I have seen green eyes everywhere right now, I wanted to try the look out. I think it is perfect for summer as it can be bright but still earthy and smoky. The Make Up Academy £1 range from Superdrug is a must explore, some of the eye shadows have incredible pigment so I grabbed these beauties in shade 13 and 14. I was really really impressed with the pigment in the green shade, it has a deep sheen to it and looks amazing on. It was a good formula and nice and blendable, I was really impressed for only a pound. The purple one was not as pigmented, I wanted it to have more shine throughout it as it looks so gorgeous in the pan. It worked well as a liner but I have not tried out a full eye look with it yet. To go with my MUA green I was captivated by this Barry M Dazzle Dust in shade 72 the colour pay off fro even a light tap of a brush on these are incredible and if you haven’t tried their dusts before you simply must check out the amazing range of colours and often great deals on offer. I would always recommend dotting a bit of translucent powder under the eye when applying these so when you are done you can easily sweep away any fallen product. This shade really pops and shines and would look great as a standalone bright eye or blended in with the green MUA colour. Here is my very quick example of how you might wear them, I went for only a tiny dab of the Barry M for a more smoky look but looking forward to playing around with it and creating a brighter colour. I also snapped some swatches of the three colours for you to see just how lovely they are.
I must have been in a Barry M mood because the last of my buys was taking advantage of the two for a fiver on their nail polishes offer. I am a bit of a nail polish fiend and can honestly say I find Barry M polishes one of the best affordable brands out there. I find their colours go on incredibly nicely, you can paint two coats easily and it leaves a great pop of colour. The thing I love the most though is how long it lasts on the nails with little to no chipping or tip wear. I have had the mint green shade on all week and it is pretty much perfect still. I have loads of comments on the colour, it is right up their as one of my favourite shades now. I am looking forward to using the grey one too, both my flatmates have it and it looks so gorgeous on them, I think it is going to be perfect for heading into Autumn or giving edge to a summer outfit.

I am over the moon with all my new goodies. Thanks so much superdrug. I hope I have tempted all of you to go green this weekend
Have a good one everyone,

After the excitement of doing my Summer Brights look thanks to Rimmel I was keen to play with the amazing range of Bourjouis makeup I was also lucky enough to receive. Laid out all together I was instantly inspired, they made me think of…cocktails! The colours were rich, juicy and glamerous with a hint of sparkle. They reminded me of indulgent cocktail nights, drinking by the beach front in the warm air, big fancy coloured drinks with umbrellas and fruit on the side- Heaven!
So here is a recipe for my summer night look- the Bourjois-Tini!
Ingredients:
1 shot of Healthy Mix Foundation (53 light beige)
2 twists of Blush in 16 Rose Coup De Foudre
1 big splash of Bronzing Powder with glints of Sunshine
4 sweeps of Ombre Stretch Eyeshadow in 07 violet profond
2 dashes of Felt tip eyeliner in 11 Noir
2 coats of Elastic Mascara (41 black)
1 slick of Effet 3D lip gloss in 46 Rose lyric.
10-20 sparkling nails in Shade 13
Instructions:
Take one pump (more if you want a thicker coverage) of the healthy mix foundation. Filled with apricot, melon, apple and ginger this foundation is a fab mix of fruit ingredients providing your skin with radiance, hydration, antioxidants and energy- it sounds like a yummy cocktail in itself! This is one of the best foundations I have tried, I love the coverage and finish it gives the skin. I apply it with my fingertips as it is so easy to distribute easily around the face but a good foundation brush or sponge will give you a gorgeous flawless complexion.
Now take a big and soft face brush and tap it onto this gorgeous bronzing palette,Chocolate shaped with tiny glints of gold sunshine through out, it even smells like a tasty chocolate creamy cocktail. Brush as much bronzer as required around your face highlighting especially where the sun would fall- using light strokes apply it to the temples, down the nose and along the cheeks. Careful not to overload, we are going for sun kissed and not tango-ed! I found the gold speckles in this just the right amount of shimmer to highlight the face without being full on shiny or worse, sweaty!
Grab a blusher blush and tap it onto the blusher, this one is amazing I am in love, it is perfect for a summer look as it is a beautiful coral hue with a touch of pink throughout, just giving the cheeks that summer glow you want. It is very pigmented so you don’t need too much at all on your brush, and then blend lightly onto the apples of your cheeks and along the cheekbones.

For the eyes go all out. Apply it with the brush all over the lid, being careful to blend into the creases. I then wet the brush, and applied the product over the lash line to have it slightly darker there, a sultry smoky summer eye! With this eye shadow you can it wear just as a liner, or all over the lid. I can’t wait to play around with the other colours from the stretch eye shadow Bourjois range, they even have a handy little mirror built in!
Next take the felt tip liner in black and apply to the lash line, taking the pen from the inner of the eyelid right out to a wing at the edge, it might take a bit of practice but this pen design makes it much easier to get it right. Balance your arm on a surface if you need to keep the line steady.
Lash time now, and I am in love with this part of making the cocktail as the Elastic Mascara is amazing! It really did stretch my lashes right out, a couple of coats of this pulling the brush from root to tip will have your eyes flirt ready for a cocktail night out.
To finish, a slick of gorgeous shine lip gloss Rose lyric to the lips, a pretty flower in the hair and a sweep of the beautiful raspberry glitter nail varnish on your fingers and toes as your essential cocktail fruit and you are done.
One beautiful summery Bourjois- Tini for enjoying on a warm cocktail night!
Cheers!
I was surprised by just how well this looked when applied together, it is not a look I have tried out before but I certainly will again, I am a nudist (only when it comes to lip colours!) but having a pop of colour on them just brought it all together, and the nails- I cannot stop staring at how they catch the light. This is not a colour I would never normally pick up but I am so glad I now have it, it was incredibly easy to apply and so far 3 days on, no chipping!
If Bourjois is not a range you usually check out I would definitely get down to Superdrug and see what colours you want to throw in your own Cocktail Night look
Hope you enjoy it as much as I have, keep a look out for the final part of my posts for this challenge, a hair DIY product and some outfit ideas to complete any summer look.

For this unlucky Insider, summer seems to have passed by my corner of the world, instead giving me grey skies and rain. It was all damp and dull in the land of BeautyH2T…..
UNTIL…. Superhero Superdrug stepped in and sent me the most amazing package in the world. Two bundles of gorgeous make up AND a stunning smart phone, it was too good to be true. The sun may not always be shining for me but now I am sitting pretty with a glam phone and 2 new summer makeup looks. The future is looking bright….
Which is actually the inspiration for part one of my Summer Brights and Cocktail Nights double post- TA DA! The selection of Rimmel make up I received just popped right out the minute I saw it and instantly made me think of bright summer eyes to make you stand out, whatever the weather! I love looking at how other people wear their make up in the summer months, it makes people change their day to day look, daring to go wild with colour, use less foundation to show off a tan, go for bright nails and liners and sometimes nothing at all just letting their face breathe easy in the heat for natural summer beauty.
The day I received my parcel I was looking through one of my favourite magazines for beauty, Look and spotted this amazing picture of Katy Perry. Look at those eyes, attention grabbing and bold- perfect for summer, I had to give this a go with my new Rimmel goodies. Armed with this and more inspiration from the Superdrug summer looks and the handy video by the Rimmel London School of Makeup I came up with my day time look, Summer Brights.
The look is easy, light on the skin and gives a great glow. I took the Medium Matte Sun Shimmer, dabbed a few splodges around my face and found it rubbed in easily and evenly. I was worried this would come out orange on me but was pleasantly surprised, I think for anyone paler than me however it might be a touch mahogany (very popular look where I live actually) on the face. It is also a fab instant tan for on the shoulders, arms and legs.
I then took my face brush and swirled it throught the Natural Bronzer in 22 Sun Bronze, it was great for just the right amount of colour, too much and I would have looked a little muddy but with a light hand swept in the right places( temples, nose, cheeks) and then onto my shoulders it looked really good. In the heat you don’t want a heavy foundation clogging your pores so a dab of a good bronzer and/or a touch of the instant tan is all you need for a daytime healthy looking hint of colour.
Now if you want to be a ‘California Gurl’ like the lady herself, you need to get those eyes popping…

I took the Exaggerate Eye definer in 240 Aqua Sparkle eye pencil and slicked it across my eyelids, much like you would with a black pencil or liquid eyeliner. It took a couple of strokes to get a good bold colour, but I was impressed with the shine in the pencil and also the added blender tip is very handy for a smudgy sexy beach look, not only that but it is waterproof too so is amazing for wearing on the beach, or even here in the rain
Take the pencil right out to the corner of the eye and give it a wing shape for added flirty eye appeal. I then dipped the thin end of the applicator that comes with the Glam’Eyes eye shadow in Posh Peacock and applied that directly on top of the eyeliner to really make it come to life. You can have it as thick or thinly applied as you like covering as much as the lid as you want. I didnt go for the black liner like Ms Perry as I didnt want to distract too much from the gorgeous blue, but you can be as wild as you want with this look, even turn it right into a night time look with a some black liner and the bright pink gloss!
For under the eyes I took the Glam’ Eyes Spicy Bronze eye shadow which I am in love with, It just warms up the skin tones and sparkles in a subtle sexy way. I again took the thin end of the applicator and swept it under each eye a couple of times, It really screams chic summer to me and is so easy to do. If you overdo the under eye just take a damp cotton bud and use it to tidy up any overkill. If you want even more colour then use your blue eye liner on your lower waterline to, it looks so nice next to the bronze. On the lashes I curled them once and then applied the 123 Looks Mascara in black, now I was sceptical about this as I couldn’t understood why anyone would want their lashes not at the best coverage level! So I did just use it on the thickest option and it gave my lashes a nice dark coat and some needed length, it was good for daytime but I don’t think it is quite enough for how I like my lashes to look for a night time. But then I have always been dramatic!
To let the Summer Brights stand out I kept the lips very natural so I finished the look with a coat of the Stay Glossy lip gloss in Unlimited Gold, a great shine to make the lips appear plumper and a hint of summer sparkle and shine while still keeping the focus on the eyes. For the nails I went for what I think is the best bright summer polish I have seen yet, the 60 seconds nail varnish in 409 Coral Crush, I love the Rimmel nail varnishes and this was no exception, they are among the best for easy application and for long last without chipping, I had this one on for 8 days and there was barely even any wear at all, a huge thumbs up from me.
I had so much fun putting this look together, it made me feel like summer was here at last- Thank you Rimmel!
Keep a look out for my Cocktail Nights post coming up shortly, my night time look thanks to Bourjois.
Much Love Everyone,
Bx
PS I could not miss out my hair in amongst all the summer looks, I thought the looks were crying out for sexy tousled beach wave hair so I will pop up a little how to on how it easy it was to achieve soon!

Wow, never did I expect to receive so much make up to play with! All of us lucky insiders were sent boxes of Rimmel & Bourjois products to create summer looks. The mega bonus was a Nokia smart phone which keeps me on the “web-side” whenever I need to be, so I can catch up with what’s happening on Superdrugloves.com.
So, I took the opportunity to ‘share the love’ my two pals, Jo & Carly, whilst having a Girls Night In (or as we call it, a “GNI”!). I created a day and night look for each brand and here’s how we got on…
When I think of Rimmel, I think of products that are cheap, bright and fun and this sums up Jo – she’s a party girl and likes to experiment with funky shades in her clothes and make up, she’s not cheap but fun with her is free!

Since there wasn’t any foundation in the kit, I used the Sun Shimmer Instant Tan in medium matte as a base for a fresh summer day look… or so I thought. Although the wash off product is meant for face and body, it did not glide well on the face and looked a tad orange, I’m sad to say, so I won’t be using it on my face in future. I’ve used the same product on my legs previously and I’m happy to report that it works much better. From here I applied the Glam Eyes Spicy Bronze all over the lid, which went on really nicely. I used the Exaggerate Waterproof eye definer in Aqua Sparkle on the lower lash line; it was a bit waxy to apply, even when using the included smudging tool but had a nice glitter to it and a beautiful colour. To finish off the eyes, I used the 3 Looks Adjustable Volume Mascara that gives volume control by twisting round to various points. Sadly, I didn’t find this very user-friendly, thinking I’d broken it after the first twist; it opened in two ways (so I spent a while figuring what the 3rd was) and then when I noticed the twisty mechanism with the 3 points on it that actually was the correct way to use it, I couldn’t see the difference the ‘looks’. Still, it gave a decent coat to the lashes without clumping. Next I used the Stay Glossy in Endless Summer, that looked lovely but felt a bit sticky / tacky. Lastly I swished a bit of the Natural Bronzer over her cheeks to complete the look; the bronzer is mineral based with an spf8 and went on nicely. Unfortunately, the instant tan let the look down due to the lack of coverage to get more of a flawless skin. I would have used an alternative foundation but I wanted to the brand and not mix anything.
For the night time look I swept more Spicy Bronze over her lid and took it just up to the brow bone. Then I used the turquoise eyeliner inside the rim of the lower lid; it’s waterproof so it didn’t go on this area so well. I next used the Glam Eyes Posh Peacock in the socket and upper and lower lashline, the products didn’t blend very well together but do go on nicely on their own. I then used the more intense part of the mascara to finish the eyes; again, it was not as gloopy as it looked and coated the lashes but nothing more than that. I added more bronzing powder, lip gloss and alternated the 60 Seconds nail polishes (825 Sky High and 810 Blue My Mind) to complete the look.
So now on to Bourjois – a French brand that hints at sophistication, glamour and comes in great packaging… Enter Carly. A natural beauty that rocks everything she wears with class; OK, she’s not French but she’s as chic as.
I applied the Healthy Mix foundation, which was a little too light for her skin (No.53 light beige), all over the face which smelt amazing, very fruity! It’s not very moisturising for a drier skin like Carly’s so I would recommend it more for a combination / oily skin as its oil free. Next, I lined the upper lashes with Liner Feutre in Noir and smudged with an eyeliner brush to soften the line for daytime. The shape of this pen-like liner was fantastic and made the line very easy to create. I finished the eyes with Mascara Elastic which is said to make your eyelashes 130% more visible in length; I wouldn’t go that far but I think it helped Carly’s eyelashes to look longer. Only downside is that it is quite difficult to remove, even with an oil based remover. To the lips we used Effet 3D in No. 46 Rose Lyric which again, had a lovely smell. Lastly, I used the Delice de Poudre to blend away the paleness of the foundation… et voila!

For the night time, I enhanced what I’d already done for the day. I went over the upper lash line again with the Liner Feutre to make it more dramatic. I then took the Ombre Stretch eye shadow in 04 Flexi Brown along the same line and blended it with the liner and in to the socket crease. I added more mascara then used the Sweet Kiss Naturel lipstick in 07 Framboise exquise before applying the Effet 3D in No. 49 Brun Rosé authentic. To complete the look I added a flush of Blush Bourjois in 34 Rose D’Or to the apples of her cheeks. The girls and I preferred both of the Bourjois looks as the products seemed of better quality and texture, there really was no contest.
The Bourjois foundation looked like the perfect colour for Jo so I tried day and night l
ooks on her and look at the difference a bit of foundation makes! For the daytime I went for a natural English rose look with lined eyes and pink lips and cheeks. For the evening, I used inspiration from 1930’s and used the eye shadow all over the lid, emphasising the crease. I used the same products as I did on Carly for both the day and the night but I think you’ll agree that they look different on both the girls. The nail varnishes were lovely and very easy to apply – 1 seconde innovation in No 13. and So Laque! In No 29 Dangereusement Rouge. Jo was wearing the first one and said that it was rather difficult to remove!
Hopefully I’ve showed you something different… and thanks again Superdrug!
I’m off on holiday tomorrow to Italy (my boyfriend booked it as a surprise mini break but let it slip that we’re going to the land of fab pasta, wine and coffee but still hasn’t disclosed the actual destination). It’s 11pm and I haven’t packed yet… we’re going in the morning eek! Hence the lack of links in this post…. I’ve not had time to get it all done tonight, sorry
‘Til next time,
Amy x
P.S. Hollie – mega envious about your trip to Japan… I am desperate to go!
Looks like you had loads of fun!
** Warning – Lots of posing photos and slightly creepy up-close eye shots ahead!**
I decided to do a day look with the Rimmel goodies… this is me before using the goodies (scary)!
I decided to base the look around festivals as bright colour seems to be the key. Anything goes as long as it’s bright! I chose to combine the blue Rimmel eyeshadow in 500 – Posh Peacock and the brown – 200 Spicy Bronze, with some other eyeshadow colours I already had.
I actually got the inspiration from ice cream! The brown Rimmel shadow symbolised chocolate, and then I used a creamy colour (Vanilla) and a baby pink (Strawberry) under my eyebrow arch, and then the Rimmel blue on the lid. This look isn’t really one I would wear often but I liked how the colours used together made them all stand out. The blue colour wasn’t one I would personally use often, but I really liked the bronze.
I felt the 1,2,3 Looks Adjustable Volume Mascara I used really made my eyelashes longer, although I didn’t quite understand the concept of the packaging but I’d definitely use it again anyway! To finish my eyes I used the Waterproof Eye Definer in 240 – Aqua Sparkle underneath to make them stand out more. I have a pencil eyeliner in this exact colour, and I find it really brings out your eye colour especially if you have blue eyes like me. This eyeliner was more of a creamy consistency which made it nicer to put on than the eye pencil I have.
To complete the day look I applied the Natural Bronzer in 022- Sun Bronze on my face, arms and chest to add some extra sparkle. I liked this, although it isn’t the best bronzer I’ve tried.
Lastly I added the Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in 040- Endless Summer to my lips. It was really soft to apply and smelled lovely even though I don’t usually use gloss!
On my nails I used the Rimmel nail varnish in 409- Coral Crush. I loved this colour as it was really summery and I was actually thinking of buying one in this sort of colour before this arrived so I was a happy bunny!
For a night time look I used the Bourjois goodies. I love experimenting with eyeshadow colours and inspiration, so with this one I decided to take the idea of a sunset. I used a yellow eyeshadow I already had under my brow, and a red eyeshadow on my eyelid. I then used the Bourjois 01- Intense Black eyeshadow in the contours to symbolise the night sky (cheesy haha).
To finish off the eyes I used Bourjois’ Mascara Elastic, which had an interesting looking applier! I liked this mascara but I think I prefer the Rimmel one just slightly, although I might change my mind! I’m rubbish with eyeliner so I attempted to use the Bourjois Felt Tip Eyeliner in 11- Noir and felt it didn’t look too bad considering! For those who use eyeliner a lot to do flicks and stuff and are much more talented than me, I reckon this would be ideal and easy to use.
On my face I used the Healthy Mix Foundation in 53- Light Beige. The first thing I noticed was the yummy smell as it has fruit extracts in! The pump made it easy to apply and I liked the coverage although I think the colour might be a little too dark for me in winter, I have a bit of a tan at the moment (only a bit though!) which meant it blended in slightly better.
The bronzer I used was Bourjois’ Bronzing Powder and I adored the packaging plus the bronzer looks like chocolate – yummy! I really liked the smell of this and preferred it to the Rimmel one. The blusher in 16 – Rose Coup De Foudre was in the cutest peach pot with flower decoration – I’m a sucker for nice packaging! The blush looked really cute on and smelt really strongly of perfume!
On my lips I used the Effect 3D Lip Gloss in 49 – Brun Rose Authentic. It made my lips look really shiny and smelt devine! I look forward to using the pink colour I got too (46 – Rose Lyric).
To finish the look I painted my nails using the 1 Seconde Varnish in No.13. I loved the colour of this and the added sparkle. The fan effect brush meant you could paint one nail in one stroke! It was so easy and the colour lasted for days without chipping, would definitely recommend this varnish!
I didn’t dislike any of the products, but the quirkness of the Bourjois packaging and the lovely fragrances has definitely made me a new fan!

For the look to be created with Rimmel, I went a little out of my comfort zone. My staples for the eyes are a flick of eyeliner, pretty much daily, and neutral browns/golds or blacks/greys.
The goody bag from Rimmel hit me with a vivid blue eyeshadow and a highly pigmented bronze. With fewer products for the face, I decided to create a look solely on the eyes.
After brainstorming as hard as I could, I came up with the following looks. While they might be a little further out than i’d normally go – I could honestly see me wearing these looks out. Which is how I used my ‘creative’ side, something I would actually be able to use in the future!
After getting some inspiration from the Superdrug Looks page and the make up artist’s video I set my make up to work!
My first looks are flip versions of each other, I prefer the Spicy Bronze all over the lid, as I think small amount of blue brings out my natural eye colour, with the brown enhancing it as it’s at the other end of the spectrum.
For this look I used the Spicy Bronze shadow all over the lid, building the colour up in the outer corners and shaping it into a wing. As the eyeshadows are so easily blended, it meant I could fade the bronze into the inner corner without it being too daunting. The Posh Peacock shade was then traced along my lower lashes, finished with the Aqua Sparkle Exaggerate liner on the waterline. I also added the liner under the Posh Peacock eyeshadow, to give it something to grip to. The entire look was then finished off with the number 3 setting on the 3 look mascara, to compliment the dramatic look!
Pretty self explanatory what happened here! I used Posh Peacock for the lid, I piled it on the outer corner and blended some of it inwards, adding a little more to the eyelid crease when I’d finished.
I think the Posh Peacock shade, blended out would be great for a subtle addition of colour in the day, then you could always add more to take it into the night.
I added a small amount of Spicy Bronze to the outer half of the lower lashes, instead of creating a wing, this time I traced the colours next to each other, to really show the contrast, then again, it was finished with the number 3 setting on the 3 look mascara.
Finally is a more wearable look, something that wouldn’t be completely out of the ordinary for me to pull out in the day time.
After swatching the bronzer on my hand, I found it looked simliar to a lot of the brown shadows already I collection, this of course prompted me to use it as a shadow! With a light hand I applied it all over the lid, and blended it out to a ‘barely there’ finish, then added a little more into the crease to deepen it up a little.
The Aqua Sparkle Exaggerate liner was then traced along the lower lash line, smudged out then topped up with a tiny amount of Posh Peacock shadow. I finished the look with the number 1 setting, to tone down the volume a little.
I loved using the eye shadows, they were so creamy and easy to blend, it makes me want to look into the rest of the colour range. I could imagine the black being great when used as a liner affect.
I can’t say I really saw a difference between the different ’settings’ on the mascara, when twisting to a certain ’setting’ I found it often twisted itself back when I began opening the tube, meaning I had to start all over again. I thought the brush was great to get into the corners and for the lower lash line, but to cover the whole eye took some effort because of the somewhat small size of the brush.
I’m currently rocking the Coral Crush 60 Seconds polish on my toes and Grey Matter 60 Seconds Polish on my fingers, these are some seriously easy to work with polishes, plus the grey is a great match for the colour of the English clouds!

Obviously impressed with the recent goody bag of Bourjois make up, I wanted an opportunity to brag – so took it along to a recent night with a friend, and immediately got to trying out different looks with her.

It was here that I came up with the idea to spend ‘24 Hours With Bourjois‘. I would create a look for the day, seeing how it fared for a day shopping and then bring the look into the night to challenge it with a shift at a nightclub, created soley with the products Superdrug so kindly sent my way.
So of course I started with a blank canvas;
Not the most natural of beauties, but hopefully not too bad! A few blemishes around the chin, as always and I’ll always add extra coverage under my eyes just to brighten them up a little bit.
While I was looking forward to trying the Healthy Mix foundation, I was unsure how it would fair against my blemishes. I’d heard it was quite a light foundation, which left me worried to venture out without concealer.
My initial worries were put to rest when I started applying. I used a flat foundation brush, and only needed a little over one pump to cover my entire face adequately. This was one of my favourite products of the bunch. I loved the pump, much easier than having to pour it out, ending up with too much or spilling it everywhere, and the fruity scent really was enjoyed! I find there is a subtle scent to all of the Bourjois products, but this one I really liked!
The Healthy Mix is a light foundation, as in it doesn’t feel too heavy when it’s applied, but it offers really good coverage and blends easily to a seamless finish. In the future I’d opt for a lighter shade, but it’s definitely going to be added to my list of top products.
To finish of my ‘day face’, I added the blusher (35 Lune D’or), applying it lightly to the apples of my cheeks, a couple of coats of Mascara Elastic, focusing on the upper lashes and a slick of the Effet 3D gloss (46 Rose Lyric) to bring in a bit of colour. The gloss is already a firm favourite of mine, I’ve gone through quite a few of these in my time! I love the brush applicator, and the taste isn’t a hassle to have to live with. I think it has a good colour range among the rest of the shades as well, whether it’s something shimmery or something natural you’re after – Bourjois can provide in the lip gloss department!
The final result?
I love the glowing affect the blush added to my cheeks, it looked beautiful when it caught the sun. The foundation managed to last a good 4 hours walking around, going through changing rooms and crowded sales racks. I was impressed with how long the lip gloss lasted, but found that it gradually wore off and left me with a lip liner affect, but without eating, I didn’t need to reapply all that frequently.
Next up was the ‘night face’, I was looking forward to trying the Ombre Stretch eyeshadow and loved the proper brush that came with it, instead of a sponge applicator which always goes unused.
I kept on the Healthy Mix foundation, simply touching up where there were blemishes and around my mouth. I then lightly swept the Delice de Poudre (52 Peaux mates) over my face, focussing where the sun would naturally hit, followed by the blusher (35 Lune D’or), only used as highlight along the cheek bones and around the corners of my eyes.
For the eyes, I used the Ombre Stretch eyeshadow (02 maxi blanc) all over the lid, I then used the Delice de Poudre (52 Peaux mates) as an eyeshadow, adding a little bit to contour the eye, with a thin line of the Liner Feutre (11 Noir), slightly winged out along the upper lashes, a little tip – if you store the liner upside down in a pot, it allows the product to flow into the nib, making it easier to apply. Followed by lips, using the Rouge a Levres lipstick (07 Framboise Exquise) topped up with the Effet 3D gloss (46 Rose Lyric).
The results…
The lipstick was definitely a favourite for this look. I would never have chosen the colour, but I like the raspberry tone it adds to my lips, it wasn’t drying in the slightest and wore off nicely. The packaging was another bonus, it’s a gadget in it’s self, something to entertain me while I apply my lippie!
The majority of foundation was still there when I took it off at the end of my shift, the blush as a highlight looked great, I like to use it for a highlight more than the blush, the pink isn’t overpowering which makes it versatile for anywhere on the face.
So concludes my 24 hour stint with the delights of Bourjois! Keep your eyes peeled for the Rimmel eyes, coming to a blog post near you!

I realise I’m a little late in saying this as people have already written posts thanking Superdrug for their lovely and very generous gifts this week! But thank you, they were a great end to my week! I have written a post with photos of all the goodies on my blog. Hope everyone is having a lovely, hot weekend!

I’ve never been to a festival before but going on the research I’ve done and memories friends have of their festival experiences, they sound like a lot of fun! When Superdrug gave me this as my first challenge I decided to hit the shops and search for my ultimate festival outfit. Along with this I also decided to create an over the top festival beauty look, including dramatic eye make-up and statement nails – (I have been told lots of glitter and vibrant colours tend to be the norm at festivals!).

To achieve this over the top festival eye look I used the following products:
MUA (Make Up Academy) – all of the products in this range retail at a bargain price of £1 each! However this new and exclusive range is only stocked in limited Superdrug stores. Find out here if your nearest Superdrug stocks this brand.
Barry M – 2 for £7 offer on at the moment, an excuse to treat yourself!
Maybelline - the best ‘false lash’ looking mascara I’ve tried
Now on to the ultimate festival outfit… Believe me this look took countless days and need I say numerous trips back and forth to the shops to get right!
This outfit can be teamed with a few different accessories to transform it to fit in whatever the weather.
If it’s raining – add a few more layers on top of the dress to keep you warm, along with a waterproof jacket and an umbrella!
If the suns shining and there’s no rain in sight maybe brave a pair of gladiators or pumps!
Now, to finish off this blog post, I was thinking… If I were to ever go to a festival, I would certainly need a ‘Survival Kit’. I am a very accident prone person, I literally fall over thin air, and my memories of camping (school trips) are not good… So that got me thinking, what could go wrong and what could I possibly need? Now I would be here forever if I were to write down every single thing I could possibly need for a ‘Survival Kit’ so I will list my top 5 must haves for accident prone people!
So here’s hoping I’ll be able to experience my first festival soon – fingers crossed!
I hope you all enjoyed reading my festival post. Keep your eyes peeled for my upcoming posts!
So I am sitting here in my study staring at the giant mound of makeup which has been sent to me by Superdrug. My first instincts are to rip it all open and smear everything over my face and nails in excitement. Luckily, my common sense kicks in and I decide to take my time with the products and really see which are the winners and losers. Hope you stick around, you may learn some tips along the way!
L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes. I have been a fan of the Telescopic mascara for years so was incredibly excited to try this, yet dubious as to whether it would match my high expectations. It lengthened my lashes with one swoop, de clumped on the second and lifted my lashes to the sky which held all day. Needless to say I was already tempted to throw it in my Holy Grail makeup box. Once I had calmed down I took a good long look at my lashes and came to the conclusion that even though I had beautifully long and lifted lashes, the volume promised on the packet did not show. Feeling deflated I wiped it all off, applied two coats of my favourite lash primer and hey presto, length, volume and lift. Some people are saying that this mascara is a little spidery on your lashes but I say don’t be deterred, you really do only need one or two coats of this for it to work its magic, any more and you will look like a Halloween spider.
NYC On-Location Professional Accessories kit.
I am a brush snob! Yes, yes I know – I am fully aware of how awful that sounds, but as a freelance makeup artist, my personal professional brush roll and kit are like an extension of my fingers. Therefore this product was always doomed fail in my eyes. I am in no way saying that these brushes are poor quality or not up for the job, in fact they are very soft and I was impressed by the variety and quantity of brushes you get in the kit. In essence this is a travel makeup brush kit which can be thrown into a bag and carried around for application or touch ups. This kit is not for me, but for a first time makeup junkie who is starting to play with brush technique, this will be a good option.
NYC Colour Wheel: Rose Glow.
Now this was definitely the stand out product for me. The mosaic tiles of cream, brown, rose and pink work together beautifully when swirled with a big fluffy brush. The formulation is lovely and it does not sit too powdery on your skin, or too shimmery. The colour payoff is truly superb and I am love with the natural glow this powder gives to my cheeks and temples when applied with a light hand. Flip over the packet and you will see that it is also oil absorbing. Well that has just got another big tick from me for the summer! I would definitely say this en is worth your pennies.
Now there were many other products included in the package including NYC eyelash curlers which I thought worked well, especially if you heat then slightly using a hair dryer before curling and the two nail varnishes which will look perfect on my toes or on mails in the autumn. However, I can write for hours and I am sure you have got sunbathing to do so I will leave you with a picture of an eye look created using the NYC Metro Quartet in South Street Seaport, which may I say is a fantastic little find.
Those lovely people from Superdrug also sent me some other goodies last week, along with the amazing Olay Anti-Wrinkle Classic Deep Wrinkle Treatment I have reviewed separately, so I thought I’d tell you about these products.
Cosmopolitan make a super range of travel cosmetic and beauty accessories, all very nicely packaged. I received the Cosmopolitan Travel Manicure Set, this came packaged in a cute little silver wallet, containing everything you would need for a quick fix manicure or beauty touch up, including scissors, nail clipper, file, cuticle shaper and even tweezers for those unruly brows. A perfect size for popping in your handbag or suitcase when traveling abroad. There was also a Cosmopolitan Travel Brush Set, also in a small silver wallet and containing four very useful little cosmetic brushes, all with very stylish white pearlescent handles, one for blusher, lip brush, eye shadow applicator and eyelash/eyebrow brush. Perfect for traveling and maintaining your make up during the day into evening for that flawless look. I also received some handy Cosmopolitan Perfect Finish Eye Shadow Applicators, just the thing for my last products to review, Sue Moxley’s Famous Shimmer Eye Dust in Matt Black, Mauve Madness and Cobalt.
These loose eye shadows are packaged in neat small, round pots, very easy to use with Cosmopolitan’s eye shadow applicators. I tried the Black Matt first, lightly applying it to my outer eye lid and just under my eyelashes under my eye for a soft smokey look. I then applied the Mauve madness to my eye lid in the middle and a little in the socket going outwards of my eyes, the mauve is almost pink and has a lovely shimmer. With black eye liner and plenty of mascara this look was fab for a glam evening out! It works equally well with the Cobalt, a lovely mid blue instead of the Matt Black for a fun young look. The eye shadow dusts have a lovely soft shimmer, though I found applying the colour lightly looks better and can always be increased with another layer for a more dramatic look. The eye shadow dusts are strong lasting colours that didn’t crease after several hours wear.
Check them out at your local Superdrug store!

My names Beautyh2t and I am a beauty a holic and proud! I love all things beauty, health, hair and skin care which is why I go by the name of beauty head- 2 -toe! So you can imagine my excitement when the lovely people over at Superdrug got in touch to say I had gotten to this stage of being a summer insider. Free makeup showing up in the post you say? I almost knocked over the poor postie grabbing it out of his hands!
I pretty much instantly applied a little of everything in the package and went to work like a happy little beauty guinea pig, multi coloured nails and all! But for all you Superdrug lovers I thought It best to calm down, try out all the products for a few days and give you the low down on some of the fab products available online and in store this summer.
NYC is a budget friendly line that I have to admit I have never really spent much time looking at before, often just passing by to look at more expensive brands, however it is certainly one I will be going to look at now. I was lucky enough to receive 5 of their nail varnishes, the 3 on the left here from their ‘In a New York Colour Minute Quick Dry’ range and two from their ‘Long- Wearing’ range and I have to say i was more than impressed! Both sets have a fab long bottle neck which I find means the varnish lasts longer and there is far less waste. The consistency is quite runny which means you can build up the colour to how you want it and you can easily paint the nail in a couple of strokes. I tried out all the colours and it is such a great range for the money, particularly when I found out how amazingly quick drying these really were, they are definitely the easiest applied and best drying nails varnishes I have tried in a long while which equals a happy, manicured me!
In the above shot I am wearing left to right; 139B Plumberry, 247B1 Prince Street, 221B1 Spring Street, 238B1 Moma and on the thumb is the stunning 140B Empire State Blue. I have worn the hot pink one (Moma) now for 4 days and its only now starting to show slight tip wear which is amazing for such a budget brand, I cannot wait to get to my local Superdrug and discover all the other colours!

Handily I was also sent a bottle of ’Sally Hansen Nail Shine Miracle 10 day Top Coat’ that I needed considering I now plan on painting my nails so many different colours in the coming sunny months, I tried it along with the Empire State blue and it performed amazingly. I am going to use it on my toes too as with the tootsies on show all summer they need to look their best and without having to re apply all the time. It is goes on so easily, dried really fast and gave my nails such a good shine- love it!

Now the other half of my package was all about the eyes, someone out there must have read my mind as right now my major beauty crushes are mascara and nails and I was lucky enough to be sent 3brand new mascaras to test out. Look out lashes, prepare to be glammed up!
Left to right I received:
So after running them all through my fingers for an embarrassing amount of time I set about the one my eye was drawn to first, the gleaming gold packaging of the L’oreal Volume Million Lashes-I am like a magpie when it comes to packaging! Currently £7.99 in Superdrug I would say this one is worth the money, the anti clump wiper for the brush ensures the wand coats all the lashes without pulling them together with excess product, a must for beauty on the go in summer time!
This mascara gives the lashes a great fullness and really made my eyes pop and in only one coat, it lasted the whole day and was mess free to apply, all that and it looks good on my dresser- a big thumbs up from me! I then moved on to the other two less expensive Mascaras, not expecting them to live up to the performance of the L’Oreal, but how I was wrong! I have now moved the 2 NYC mascaras right into my daily routine ( yes I will admit I wear 2 mascaras a day- cringe). For the price of these well packaged sleek beauties they are well worth picking up, both the curling and the lengthening ones do the job perfectly, giving a great natural finish that wore so well over the day. Easy to both apply and remove I found these fab and will work well for you if you are looking for a little extra length to open up your peepers or to curl the lashes for that summer flirty look.
Thanks so much Superdrug for the chance to share my thoughts and for fuelling my beauty obsession, and thank you all for reading, if any one else has used any of these products then let us know which ones you love in the comments below. I Love to hear what everyone else is trying out.
Happy summer everyone,
Bx

Adding another mascara to my collection, means i’ve got a few to compare to.
The new innovation from L’Oreal sets itself in a different league. Firstly we have the packaging, a gold chrome which is instantly recognisable, with the title strewn across the front. No need to pack the tiny tube full of info, it is what it is, a mascara.
The unique point for this mascara is the ‘anti clump wiper’ a build in mechanism to the top of the tube, which claims to scrape the brush of excess product, to avoid clumping on the lash. Comparing this to it’s similar counterpart, the L’Oreal Collogene mascara, you see the difference. While the Collogene brush comes out caked in product, leading to over application on the lashes, the Million Lash brings out a brush complete with the right amount of product to evenly coat your lashes.
The brush itself is plastic, with varying levels of bristle length, aiming to grab every lash to ‘millionize’ your look. The tip of the brush has tiny bristles, supposedly so you can reduce the difficulty of coating those inner corner lashes.
For me, this is where it falls short. The brush design doesn’t fit to the eye, which makes any where other than the centre a pretty hard task to evenly coat. While the inner corners are left lacking in product, the outer ones become coated, leading to a few clumps occurring where the most attention is going to be focused.
In terms of the ‘millionizer’ impact, I’m not sure it’s anything to shout about. I love the look it gives my lashes, they are fanned out, lengthened and with enough work, they can be evenly coated. The only thing i’m not sure of is the thickening. Thickening mascaras are generally where it’s at for me, I have enough natural length, I’m not bothered about a curled affect, I just want a bit of thickness, without having spidery tips.
The name suggests thickening, to provide you with the look of more lashes, i.e ‘millionizing’ them, should provide you with the look of thicker lashes, but because of the brush and the lack of product where it needs to be, it ends up seperating the lashes and coating them thicker at the base, so they become spidery at the tips.
Coated with L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes
Being among the higher priced products in Superdrug, it’s great that they’re introducing it to the market at a reasonable £7.99. While I might not pay the full £10.99, it’s defintely a great chance to try it on the cheap, so much won’t be lost if it doesn’t ‘millionize’ your opinion of the mascara.
As an amazing new mascara you must add to your collection, it still has a while to go.
As a mascara without the frills it’s good. It will offer great length, the potential for great separation and great staying power, without being a chore to take it off. While you might not want to immediately run out and buy it, it’s definitely not one to be cast aside. Try it out as your next potential ‘classic’, who knows, it might just earn that title.

I overslept yesterday and missed the delivery of my Superdrug goodies. I was gutted; I had been looking forward to testing out my new products for days. The only thing I received through my door was a red slip from the Post Office saying I could collect my parcel the next day. All I could do was wait.
I woke up this morning bright and early, I was as excited as a kid on Christmas morning, only my presents weren’t nicely placed in the comfort of my own home, I had to trek it to the Post Office.
I signed for the package and unwrapped it there and then on the corner of the street…I know, I’m very excitable! So, there it was, all nicely wrapped in pink tissue paper, my box of heaven. I was shocked at just how much I had received; I was even more shocked that I had the one thing missing from my makeup bag at the moment… Mascara. Not just any Mascara may I add, this was L’Oreal’s Volume Million Lashes Mascara, the mascara I had been pondering over for the last week after seeing the fabulous Eva Longoria posing with it on my TV screen. Well now it’s mine. Thank you Superdrug you’ve made me one happy girl
Well as soon as I reached home the beauty regime began. Here’s what I discovered ladies…
Cosmopolitan Beauty Expert- Precision Tweezer Trio
I love this little pack. The three tweezers are nicely tucked in a cute cream pouch and come in three different sizes to suit those tricky plucking situations. There is one tweezer with a pointed tip which tackles the more stubborn finer hairs, a tweezer with a straight tip and one with a slanted tip for normal to coarse hairs. Now, I have never used any other tweezer than the average one you can find in any store, nor have I ever felt the need to test out any other type, but this kit has opened my eyes. I found that I could shape my eyebrows far easier than before and I could remove those horrible ingrown hairs which plague my bikini-line. I must say I am a tweezer convert.

Elite Illuminating Foundation- 02 Neutral
I am one fussy girl when it comes to foundation. I have combination skin, so
buying the right foundation can be difficult. I usually spend a lot of money on foundation without hesitating as it makes me feel more confident, hiding away my spotty, dry but oily skin. I was unsure what to expect from this particular one, I have never heard of Elite so I had no preconceptions about its quality.
When I put it on I found that it was rather patchy. The makeup did not smooth across my skin evenly, which meant I had to keep adding more to my face, leaving me looking an unusual colour. I wore it for the day but I was not impressed with the level of coverage, I soon could see the imperfections of my skin.
I will not be changing my regular foundation for this one.
5/10
Elite Blush Secret Cheeks- Porcelain
I liked this product. The Blusher is a lovely shade and the brush inside the pallet is a great size to evenly apply blusher to the cheeks. I think that I would buy this product again as the blusher itself is quite large, when usually the amount is a lot smaller. This shade is great for my skin tone, which is, for all those who are unaware of my complexion; quite possibly the closest colour match to one of the Cullens from Twilight. The blusher just adds a touch of rosiness to my cheeks, bringing my face to life.
7/10
Cosmopolitan Beauty Expert- Perfect Finish Retractable Blush Brush
This product is a must have! It is always nice to have a large brush to apply
blusher or bronzer but they are never suitable to carry around. The portable sized brushes are usually not big enough to provide colour to the cheeks. This brush is perfect as it has the perks of being quite large in size, but can fold away into a stylish white case, ideal for those on the go. This item can easily fit into any bag and create a flawless finish.

Elite Starlight Eye Shadow- 04 Lolite
I just wish I had clocked on to this eye shadow earlier. Last week was my summer ball and I wore a purple dress accompanied with a purple flower in my hair, this shade would have looked perfect. Never mind, it just gives me an excuse to head out on the tiles for a night in my purple frock yet again, this time with my eyes dazzling to match.
The eye shadow is great for the shimmery glitter undertone and how easy it is to come out on the brush; however the colour is not as bright as I hoped. In the pallet the purple is very vibrant, but when applied to my eyes it only came out lightly. For a subtle look this eye shadow works great, but if you’re looking for a bright colour; Starlight is not the one.
6/10
Elite Intensity Long Lasting Eye Pencil- 01 Mysterious Black
Eyeliner is my most favourite item in my makeup bag; I just love drawing
flicks on my eyes and the feminine look it creates. I am a hard one to please when it comes to eyeliner, but this one was quite good. I usually use liquid eyeliner for the more striking effect, but I was surprised at how easy this eyeliner went on. The pencil created a line which I was pleased with, however it didn’t come out on my skin as sharp as I would like. I’m not quite convinced that I’ll be swapping my liquid eyeliner for a pencil yet, until that day my little pot of happiness will remain firmly by my side.
6/10
L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes- Noir/Black
Not only is the gold coloured tube luxurious, but the finish is just perfection. Mascara never meets my expectations, either due to clumpiness, lack of volume, or just being too hard to remove, but this one is definitely my top choice. The brush design ensures that clumps are non-existent and the full lash effect is great for fluttering those eyelashes this summer. The volume of the lashes is not as full as I would like; but the length and individual definition of the lashes is definitely maximised.

The lip gloss challenge
I had three lip glosses in my beauty kit, I tested all three to find the ultimate winner. Here’s what happened:
Elite Repulp! Gloss- 06 Darling Pink
I am a big fan of moisturising lips. I tend to use Vaseline to care for my lips, as glosses and lipsticks tend to dry them out or make them too sticky. No longer will I stand for my hair sticking to my lips after every gust of wind…very unattractive. The Repulp Gloss is great as the consistency is far from sticky; the finish is smooth and moisturising. The colour does not stand out, but for the clear everyday look, darling pink is perfect.
Colour 7/10 Lasting time 7/10 Texture 8/10
Elite SMARTi Gloss- 08 Marshmallow
This gloss does exactly what it says on the tin, my lips remained moisturised and shiny, without having that horrible sticky texture. The Marshmallow shade comes out clear on my lips so is suitable for daytime use, or coating lipstick at night. Although the gloss smells and tastes nice when on my lips, it reminds me of the cheap glosses I use to own as a kid which had a scent that soon became unbearable to keep on my lips. I can taste it as I’m writing this; you definitely need to gargle mouthwash after an application of this stuff.
Colour 5/10 Lasting Time 6/10 Texture 6/10
L’Oreal Glam Shine Reflexion- 180 Sheer Cassis
The colour looks really tacky; it’s a plum tone with purple, pink and gold glitter. If I saw this shade in the shop I would not even try it out, however, now I have it I may aswell try it out. To be honest it was not as bad as I first thought, there’s no way I would wear this shade during the daytime but on a night out it would complement my lips really nicely. I’ve learnt never judge a book by its cover! The brush is a brilliant applicator; it provides an even finish and helps to outline the lip, perfect for avoiding getting gloss on the face. The colour lasted a long time which I’m pleased with; altogether this is a great buy.
Colour 8/10 Lasting Time 8/10 Texture 8/10 WINNER!!!!
I think the three glosses suit different purposes. I would suggest for a daytime look the Elite Repulp Gloss in 06 Darling Pink would be perfect. To add a shiny coat to any lipstick the Elite SMARTi Gloss in 08 Marshmallow would suit anyone of any complexion. The L’Oreal Glam Shine Reflexion in 180 Sheer Cassis would definitely be a good choice for a night out, the colour is vibrant and it stays on for a long time.
Right so there we have it ladies, a low-down of the beauty world’s latest products, some good some bad. I’m now heading for bed, but not before I scrub my newly pampered face clean

Unlike Ke$ha I rarely wake up feeling like P.Diddy, however the sun was out and the birds were chirping so I was a pretty happy bunny this morning as It’s FRIDAY! I feel that needs capital letters as it has been a very long week.
I decided it was high time to wear my gorgeous new Vivienne Westwood for Melissa shoes
After my usual muesli and green tea I peruse my work emails, personal emails and have a quick go on the ipod app ‘angry birds’ since it would be rude not to and I am slightly addicted.
I quickly nip to the ladies to slap on an extra bit of Bourjois lippie before I face the meetings of the day.
The highlight meeting was one with our chartered jet company to explain why they don’t seem to have any control of their call centre staff, as funnily enough I can’t say that I was happy being told that an entire trip had to be cancelled because the crew had no visas so couldn’t land at the destination!
Lunch was taken up with a whistlestop tour of the Oxford Street department stores to pick up some gifts and dodge those perfume squirters who seem to have the dexterity of ninjas. The way they come at you with their bottle of scent trying at all costs to squirt you is an amazing, if annoying skill. Then a quick trip to Superdrug to stock up on my favourite product , the non-acetone nail polish remover which is the best one ever. Then I rush rush rush back to the office via a bit of tourist redirection…well if you will ask me how to find the pub from Eastenders I can’t really help you!
The afternoon is taken up with more emails, filing, meetings and calls and one by one everyone starts to leave early to get away for the long weekend and enjoy the last few hours of sun. As I commute from Kent the journey home is a numbers game of tube and train balancing and I have got it down to a fine art of minimum timings – although if there are delays this usually involves a sprint across Victoria station, which is probably a good thing as I don’t have time to stop at Krispy Kreme which I might otherwise be tempted to do.
I pick up my little mini Betsy (don’t ask, I am far too old to name my car really) and then off to the gym to work off the Winter pounds. After my Jane Fonda moment I head home to feed the cat and make some dinner. The BF greets me with a loud snore as I open the door so I tiptoe upstairs and have a quick update on my blog, twitter and youtube accounts then go back downstairs to make my favourite tea – Quorn Fajita Mountain, which basically came about as I don’t like having more than one fajita wrap at a time so I just pile up the filling on one wrap.
I try and convince the boyfriend that SATC 2 would be a great idea but get the usual ‘you must be joking’ look so I will have to try and find someone else to watch it with or wait until the DVD. Oh to have a sister who would have to come with me to these sorts of things, it would be so handy!
After snuggling up to watch a few Sky+’d episodes of Glee we decide it’s been a long day so after I remove the slap and brush my teeth with my beloved Beverly Hills toothpaste it’s time for bed.
Nighty Night x
