So So So Scandalous, a boy’s honest opinion.

Loading ... Loading ...

Whenever I’ve mentioned the brilliant Scandalous products lately I’ve broke into that Misteeq song. The products are gorgeous: simple eyecatching packaging in matte black and hints of bright fuschia pink.  After getting my hands on the product I felt my review wasn’t enough, so when my boyfriend found the big box of products I was amazed when he said he wanted to try them for me (in exchange for keeping the shampoo and conditioner!). BRILLIANT!

Ed’s hair before the products, not much shine, dry and brittle hair. Heat has really taken its toll!

Ed isn’t a typical lad really. He loves hair products and has had every hair colour under the sun (blue streaks…red streaks…platinum blonde…I could go on). He’ll kill me for this but hes a bit of a pretty boy and has been since I met him about 5 years ago. He loves the top brands for hair and when I told him of this up and coming brand he jumped at the chance. The scent is really suited to a man I think too, so it was only right that he tested the products!

Really well branded – cant miss these products

Ed chose to use the Moisturising Shampoo and Conditioner, Hair Serum, Heat Protection Spray and Hairspray. After trying out both the shampoo and conditioner in the shower I got the lowdown…Ed’s first opinions immediately out of the shower:

  • The smell and texture of the Gorgeously Rich Moisuring Shampoo and Conditioner reminded him of the hairdressers.
  • Left his hair feeling smooth but not too smooth.
  • Felt he had used a really professional set of products!
  • Feels volumous even when wet.

It was time to apply the Seductive Shimmer Serum. The serum promised to tame and calm without overloading the hair and to create a dazzling shine. Ed’s immediate opinions upon applying the serum:

  • Being a smoker, he was particularly impressed that the serum contained Citronella which stops the hair picking up smells of smoke which Ed is concious about.
  • Felt like hair will dry well and maintain a lengthy shine.
  • Serum wasn’t as sticky as previously perceived.

Seemed to tick all the boxes there! With all the products applied to wet hair, it was time to get cracking with the drying and straightening. After drying his hair the vote was in:

  • Hair “went in” so well straighteners will be barely needed!
  • Really thick locks.
  • Feels revitalised!
  • Feels soft but manageable.

The Red Alert Heat Protection spray was then used immediately after hairdrying. He spritzed it a few times all over his hair before he applied his straighteners. I think this is a product where you will see the benefits through several uses. But the Protection spray promises to withstand high temperatures which is perfect for the use of daily hair straightening; the temperatures they reach are sky high!

The Flaunt It Hairspray was used as the final product in the Scandalous mission. Ed really raved about this and thought it gave a firm hold, but without the hair looking too”crisp”. The “memory foam” effect particularly impressed him too. He fought to keep this but I wasn’t having any of it, I want it for myself!

So calling all boys: these Scandalous products aren’t just for girls! I found the scent to be unisex, a fragrance which is musky and feminine but also has masculine tones. Perfect for Ed and other men too.

Ed’s deciding vote………a massive 9/10, this could be Superdrug’s next big thing! Plus they’re now priced at £3.50 on the Superdrug Site…grab a bargain!

Watermelon nails part ii

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (14 votes, average: 2.43 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

I brought you a nail tutorial post a few weeks ago but this time I bring you a different take on the watermelons!

I went with a more salmon pink this time and used a consistent pattern on all the nails. Check out the results!

What I did:

  • Firstly covered my whole nail in salmon nail varnish
  • Simply with a tooth pick I added black dots to replicate the seeds of a watermelon
  • I then added a green stripe over the top of my nail about half a centimetre thick.
  • Watermelon nails done!

So with my watermelon nails done and dusted and with my love of fruit themed accessories and clothes I thought I’d trawl the internet to see whats on offer at the moment!

Watermelon purse £6 ASOS, Strawberry Casio watch, Strawberry denim playsuit Topshop £45, Apple print socks Topshop £3, Pineapple bag ASOS (now sold out !), Cherry necklace River Island £5.99 (I own this!), Vivienne Westwood Melissa Heels £110

Try and add some fruit patterns into your wardrobe before Summer ends! Dark colours ahead for Autumn and Winter so make the most of the season!

Our Rustic Summer Cuisine – picture post

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (24 votes, average: 3.33 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

It’s Summer, we should be embracing it by eating healthy and broadening our food palette. When I received the challenge of Summer Cuisine I wanted to choose something that portrayed sunny days, picnics and simple pub lunches – a menu which just screams traditional summer treats! Me and Lucy, the best friend, toyed with ideas until we came up with an exciting menu which would get people to try and cook themselves.

So our first masterpiece: homemade crisps. We came up with some unique flavours and 2 hours later in asda we had our ingredients!

Homemade Crisps:

  • 4 potatoes chopped very thinly
  • Olive oil
  • Flavours of choice – think spices, salt & pepper, onion etc
  • Greaseproof baking paper
  • Pastry brush

Wash and peel potatoes. Chop the potatoes into very thin slices so they become nice and crispy in the oven. Paint olive oil onto the potato slices. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Choose flavourings, in our case we chose four different taste infusions: mint and lime, sea salt and balsamic vinegar, paprika and chilli powder, onion and balsamic vinegar. Pop in the oven for 20-25 minutes. Make sure they’re nice and crispy and you’re done! Ready to eat.

To go with our crisps, Lucy thought Ploughman’s Lunch – the epitome of summer pub lunches:

A ploughman’s lunch is a cold snack or meal originating in the United Kingdom, composed of cheese (usually a thick piece of Cheddar; Stilton or other local cheese); pickle (called “relish” outside the UK), bread (especially crusty bread, which may be a chunk from a loaf or a bap); and butter.[1] It is often accompanied by a green salad; other common additions are half an apple, celery, pickled onions, pâté, crisps, diced hard boiled eggbeetroot.

I have to admit I wasn’t too clued up on it, but once Lucy informed me of the ingredients I thought what a refreshing and simple meal we could make, and something we could contrast with our crisps. We wanted to create our own take on it and this is when we thought burgers. A rustic looking plate full of Ploughmans regulars but slightly unique.

Ploughman’s Twist – Rustic Burger Ingredients:

  • Pork/beef mince enough to make 2-4 meat patties
  • 1 small egg
  • Handful of chopped onion
  • Pepper
  • Seasoning

And to put with the burger:

  • Crusty bread
  • Salad
  • Coleslaw/raita dip

Pre-heat grill to 220 degrees. Chop up the mince so its easier to mould into shapes. Crack an egg and add it to the mince to bind it. Add seasoning such as pepper, onions and salt to add flavour to the meat. Divide the meat into portions and make into round shapes to serve 2-4 people. Pop in the grill for 20 minutes turning them over half way through. Done!

adding the egg to the mince

So to combine with our crisps and the Ploughman’s Lunch idea we wanted to create an interesting looking plate which looked healthy and simple. To keep with our rustic theme we placed the food onto a wooden chopping board to keep it very minimalist. We added the crisps, salad, homemade raita dip (onions, cucumber, mayonaise, mint seasoning) to our board and thought it looked amazing – I could eat it again now!

From watching Masterchef/Come Dine With Me I’ve noticed its not all about the taste but about the presentation too, its key!

Lucy showing off our plate. A farmhouse authentic meal I’m sure you’ll agree!

me about to tuck into the meal!

Okay so main meal done. Something to wash it down with? A gorgeous summer smoothie with rich exotic fruits. Perfect!

Our Summer Smoothies, #1:

  • 3 Peeled lychees
  • 2 handfuls of Blueberries
  • 1 Banana
  • A blender

Very simple this one! Add the fruits into your blender and blend until you have a puree. Serve in a glass and voila – smoothie done.

a very interesting lychee

Forest Fruits Smoothie #2

  • 6 Blackberries
  • Handful of blueberries
  • 2 handfuls of raspberries
  • 8 strawberries (basically all the berries!)
  • 1 chopped Banana

fruits ready to blend

S is for Summer and Superdrug! To add our own take we include the star logo and S for Superdrug (sorry Phoebe we’d already done this before you did yours!). 2 very yummy smoothies!

For dessert we chose an ice cream sundae. We reminisced over pub knickerbocker glorys and mountains of ice cream we could never finish. We used leftover smoothie to create a coulis for our ice cream sauce. Coulis’ are easy to make – just blend some fruits together (I recommend Blackberries and Raspberries for a forest fruit taste!).

Superdrug Sundae

  • Scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Fruit Coulis
  • Half a dozen Raspberries/Strawberries
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • 1 Glacier Cherry

Drizzle the coulis in the bottom of a nice glass. Add one scoop of the vanilla ice cream. Push the ice cream down to create twirling raspberry ripple effect. Chop some strawberries/raspberries in half and place  round the edge of the glass. Add some raspberries and more ice cream on top. Drizzle more coulis then create a small mound of ice cream on top. Add glacier cherry and sprinkle marshmallows. Your very own Superdrug Sundae!

Perfect Knickerbocker Glory!

I couldn’t let Lucy go without having her own little say on the task….

Lucy’s Summer Tips:

  • Don’t be afraid to try new things, get creative in the kitchen!
  • Smoothies are a great way introduce new flavours -  they can be all or part of your 5 a day. They’re also great as a breakfast alternative.
  • Once you’ve got to grips with smoothies why not try soups!
  • For the crisps, make sure they’re thin enough and make sure you soak them in the marinade long enough.
  • Wash your hands after preparing every stage and be careful when using raw egg and meat – keep a clean work surface!
  • Fruits are brilliant for skin and your hair will thrive from it. Shiny summer hair is a winner!

That concludes our summer menu!  This was my favourite task to date, me and Lucy had such a hilarious but stressful time cooking our dishes, lots of laughs but a lot of hard work put into it!  Thanks Superdrug for making our boring Sunday more exciting!

£20 gift voucher purchases & lovely surprise from Andrew Collinge!

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (13 votes, average: 3.00 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

I finally got round to showing you my purchases from the Superdrug store visit.

My buys: Urban Rebel lilac leopard nails £4.99, Fashion Express floral design nails £2.99, MUA sparkly pink lipstick £1.00, MUA green glitter eyeliner £1.00, Batiste Brunette dry shampoo £2.99, Garnier Nutrisse in dark golden brown £4.99, Barry M Dazzle Dust in green and black £4.50

And I love them all (but I’ve yet to try the hair dye!). Of course my favourites are the MUA eyeliner and lipstick, they’re my new favourite brand and really delivered on these two items. The glitter is so vibrant and thick which is remarkable for something that costs just one pound! And the lipstick is lovely too – a nice pale shade with a glitter/shimmer tint to it. Perfect to give a bit of colour to your lips and to compliment a heavy eye look.

thick glitter!

MUA

A product I haven’t tried yet but I’m so intrigued by is the Barry M Dazzle Dust. I’m having a bit of a green month, I have bought a lot of green tops and dresses lately so why not experiment with green make up too! I’m not too sure how to apply this yet but I’ve been dying to get my hands on one of these! The small pot is really cute too – can’t wait to try it out.

Love the iridescent look

To top off my weekly buys I stopped by Asda and was hugely taken aback by the bargains on offer! I bought a red wicker bag for £1! Perfect for a possibly beach trip next week. And if I’m lucky i’ll be able to sport my new £1 sunglasses from Asda too!

This week has been spent slaving away at my laptop to complete some essay resits so when I received a delightful package from Andrew Collinge, I was amazed! I have to say special delivery Superdrug packages make my days recently. In the package was 2 sets of gorgeous shampoo and conditioner, which obviously I just had to share with my mum! The couple I chose, which were specially for coloured hair, smelted delicious with aromas of apple and something I like to call hairdresser shampoo smell. N.B That ever so rare smell you get when you’re sat in the chair getting your hair washed in a salon and wish you could recreate in your shower at home! It’s really quite perfect and from using it twice I can say it leaves my hair feeling so soft but manageable enough to retain volume and shine. I washed my hair about 6 hours ago and I keep smelling it on me, always a plus! Love it when hair maintains a lovely smell and doesn’t get greasy too quickly, Andrew Collinge I salute your products! The other two products smell more musky and with extract of ylang-ylang I knew my mum would love them. Keep you posted on her opinions!

Delicious, thank you so much Superdrug!

Back this weekend with a cuisine cook-off with a best friend! xo

P.S my week in iphone photography:

rocking the pink MUA lipstick, new ringt from ASOS, cute surprise 2.8 anniversary presents from boyfriend, new leopard bedding which is the love of my life, light green (!) top peach flats and tights from the Miss Selfridge/New Look sale! Not a bad week after all…

Warrington Store Visit – discovering Superdrug’s hidden gems.

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (21 votes, average: 3.38 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

Today I went to visit my lovely local Superdrug store which is in the Golden Square Mall, Warrington.

My aim for today was to go round the store and pick out some items which are almost hidden gems of Superdrug, and introducing them to you! I was kindly given £20 to spend on some products and review them later on, which I’ll be doing in my follow-up post.

Hey it’s me! With Dal, Deafinitely Girly and Phoebe in Superdrug’s “Little Book of Summer”. Still loving being in an insider second time around.

So firstly, I introduced myself to the Duty Manager Lynette. She took me on a mini tour telling me of the offers on at the moment. One offer that caught my eye was that the whole range of MUA (Make up Academy) was £1! Yes £1!!! So I spent a good 10 minutes ogling and deciding what to buy. Lynette was singings it praises, telling me how amazing the nail varnishes were and she was right – perfect colour range. These are proving very popular at the moment with Superdrug customers!

Lynette

The MUA range is heavily promoted on the Superdrug site. There’s eye glitter, mascara, lipstick, eye shadows, eye dust, bronzers, blushers, nail varnishes, lipgloss and eyeliner in their range, which is a pretty good range I have to admit. And as everything is only one hundred english pennies I think you can afford to buy a whole new array of goodies to keep looking good! Definite gem #1. Gems which I just had to spend my voucher on!

My favourites out of the nail varnish range.

Another range which I was particularly impressed with is BeautyUK. Their pastel and neon colours are so on trend right now. Totally loving the light beige and mint green!

They also do beautiful make up palettes which stood out to me – love their paint palette style packaging and complimenting colours.

Moving on from make up, the main thing I was after today was Dry Shampoo for my new brown barnet! I only discovered recently that a Brunette range is now available which I was ecstatic about; I found the normal version very difficult to rub into dark hair and left it looking quite patchy and grey – not a good look! I can safely say the Brunette version is brilliant and keeps my hair looking fresh between washes – exactly what it says on the tin! However at £2.99 its a step up price-wise from Batistes normal range. Hopefully it’ll fall in price when its been on the market for a couple of months, my poor student self can only hope!

I’d always been surprised how I never saw other brands bringing out their own dry shampoo – but I was proved wrong! Lynette showed me Superdrug’s new own range – find it in store now!

Another aspect of Superdrug I’ve picked up on lately is their false nails range. Can’t believe how good it is! I have to admit I’d never been a fan of false nails and thought they looked tacky, especially the french manicure style ones. However, I’ve really opened my eyes to them recently and can’t believe how much I’ve been missing out on!

Amazing range

So for another hidden gem, Here is Urban Rebel!

They specialise in gorgeous designs like leopard and lace print to jazz up dull nails! I love how whenever I wear them I catch glimpses of them throughout the day and the novelty never wears off. Their nail glue is brilliant too and whenever I’ve worn them in the past – not once have they fallen off. I’ve bought another design with my £20 gift voucher so stay tuned for a post flaunting them!

So, Superdrug: copious amounts of make up – check. Hair care – check. False nails – check. Jewellery and accessories – CHECK! Okay, so Superdrug wouldn’t usually be your number one choice when it comes to this area. I’ll admit I never even realised they sold them until last year (definitely too busy checking out the make up…). But competing with other stores, I think Superdrug have really stepped up. Their accessories range is something I’d buy now. I’m such a huge jewellery fiend, buying them as much – and if not more than clothes so this is only fueling my habit!

loving the corsages, jewellery ring and heart earrings.

With £20 to spend, I was finding it hard to stick to my budget with all the tempting items on offer. I did go slightly over 5 english pounds but with a festival to attend at the weekend approaching, I needed some basic products to keep looking fresh. But thats for another time – I’ll be back tomorrow with my buys.

Thanks to Missguided – My Summer-going-into-Autumn new outfit!

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (12 votes, average: 3.25 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

I’ve always been a big fan of missguided.co.uk, but whenever I’d seen something I wanted to buy I never had the funds! So when Superdrug teamed up with Missguided to offer all us Summer Insiders an outfit worth £60 I was ecstatic! After days and days of deliberating I finally came up with my choices. I decided as Summer is slowly dying out I’d choose something more suitable for Autumn or any of the other three seasons; a flexible outfit! Here are my buys:

  • Navy Floral Dres – £19.99
  • Crochet Waistcoat: £16.99
  • Bow Star Bag (in the style of Phillip Lim!) – £22.99
  • Stud Belt – £6.99
  • Oversized Bow Headband – £4.99

I was slightly over budget but didn’t mind paying for some cute accessories! I can’t wait for them to arrive! Thanks again Superdrug and Missguided, you’ve made my summer just that bit more stylish!

Summer Nails Tutorials: Strawberry and Watermelons

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (18 votes, average: 3.44 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

For me this summer is all about interesting and colourful nails. I’ve recently branched in to fake nails too which I just can’t seem to get enough of lately!

Being inspired my best friend Emily who created amazing leopard print nails just with the use of different colour nail varnishes and brushes I decided to jazz my nails up too!

Nails attempt 1: Strawberries

What you will need

  • 1 red nail varnish
  • 1 green nail varnish
  • 1 yellow/gold nail varnish
  • tooth picks or if you’re more privelidged: nail brushes for the dots!

It doesn’t take a brainbox to work this out but I’ll go through the steps anyway. Firstly paint all your nails in red. Wait a couple of minutes for it to dry, then add the green stalk effect on the top of your nails. To do this I used a tooth pick, dipped it in the Green Grass Models Own nail varnish and created points to mimic the stalk on a strawberry. After I finished this I dipped another tooth pick into 25 Carat Gold Models Own nail varnish and lightly made some blobs on my nails to get the seed effect. And there you have it, beautiful Strawberry Nails! Heres my results using a bit of iphoneography:

Nails attempt 1: Watermelon

  • 1 pink nail varnish
  • 2 different colour green nail varnish
  • 1 black nail varnish
  • tooth picks or if you’re more privelidged: nail brushes for the dots!

I decided to make all my nails a different pattern to contrast with the strawberries. For example one nail i painted all dark green and put Slate Green Models Own over the top to create the watermelon skin effect. On another I painted it all pink, adding a green tip at the top of my nail. I then added dots for the seeds. Just have fun with this one! Results:

The nail varnishes featured above are my absolute favourite. Check them out on ModelsOwn.com- they have a ridiculous range on their site full of beautiful colours. From Glitter to Matte you can’t go wrong with Models Own!

And thats it! xo

P.S I’m a brunette again – post with photos and explanation very soon!

Summer Looks: Rimmel and Bourjois

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (31 votes, average: 3.81 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

We had a wonderful challenge this week to create 2 summer looks using Bourjois and Rimmel products. I couldn’t wait for a makeover task this summer so this was a prime opportunity to get my skills into practise! I’m not the best make up applier, infact i’d describe it as a bit messy and rushed; I think I get a bit impatient! So I tried to curb this and really put some patience and effort into it.

Lovely make up which I realised was missing the blusher and eyeliner which were on my dresser! Stupid! Noticed my mistake? I must have placed the blue eyeliner from the Rimmel bag into the Bourjois bag without checking when applying the make up. So I created a look mixing the products by accident. A big no no as stated in the product pack. The mistaken make up appliance opposite! I was very annoyed at having to re-do my makeover and shoot, left me feeling rather uninspired! Anyway onwards and upwards; it was time to get testing the Rimmel products on offer…

Rimmel

A clean slate ready to get working! Trying to hide my tired eyes with my overgrown fringe

First of all: fake tan is so not my forte. I am so new and oblivious to it it is unreal. I’ve always been one of those pale and proud girls, shunning tan for natural porcelain skin. I agree that you look so much more interesting as pale! But since Rimmel provided me with me both tanning and bronzer equipment then why the heck not divulge for once! I wasn’t impressed at first glance, it left my hands stained and left me wondering was it really worth the hassle. But here it is, Sun Shimmer Instant Tan in medium matte!

I didn’t apply all that much as it started to make my face look streaky. I opted for a bronzer applied like blusher instead to give me more of a healthy glow. Much more natural!

Since Rimmel had provided me with blue and brown eyeshadow I decided to use this as my main colour palette. Without using my usual black eyeliner I decided to go black-free, which is way out of my comfort zone!

I mixed a bit of the Glam Eyes eye shadow in Posh Peacock blue together with the Glam Eyes Spicy Bronze brown to tone the brightness down for my eyelids. Starting with my inner eye I applied the brown working towards the middle. I then got the mixed blue and brown and added it to the outer area of my eye, giving it a little flick. So basically achieving a two-tone coloured effect. I wasn’t too sure about this when I applied it, so to “jazz” it up a bit added a layer of Exaggerate Eye definer in 240 Aqua Sparkle on the bottom lid.  After adding the 123 Looks Mascara I felt a bit more like me although I did feel my lashes clumping a little!

A light summery look which would be lovely with a swishy summer dress – its not all about the make up is it? Its what you combine it with which really makes your look unique.

For the finishing touches I used Stay Glossy lip gloss in Unlimited Gold for a nice shine effect to compliment my eyes.

Sticking with that idea I thought I’d choose an outfit to compliment this colour palette. I had just purchased a blue floral dress which I thought would look awesome with my choice of make up. Contrasted with red heels or red bow flats for either night or day – I love bright outfits.

And for that extra summer feel I spritzed myself in Vera Wang Princess, which has floral and musky tones making it perfect for days in the sun (if we ever get any!)

Bourjois

All I can say is…WOW. So impressed with the Bourjois goodie bag! Not only did they look good as a brand, but most of the products smell so beautiful, almost good enough to eat. Such a big plus to have nice smelling products, especially the Healthy Mix Foundation in Light Beige which was so sweet smelling; I just love it! So, my plan was to get using all the black products and create a dark night time look, which is definitely more in my comfort zone than the Rimmel products! First adding the Foundation and then adding  34 Rose D’Or Blusher to define my cheekbones. Here’s my inspiration:

To get the heavy black effect, I used the Felt tip Eyeliner 11 Noir to outline my upper and lower lids. I then added Elastic Mascara to plump up my top and bottom lashes. I thought to really emphasise them – this look is all about mesmering eyes – I’d add false lashes to achieve this look. To top it off Ombre Stretch Eyeshadow in Black was applied  to create a dramatic intense stare. I added slight flicks on either side just like in the photo above.

With the eyes done, it was time to take to my lips. I painted Effect 3D lip gloss in 46 Rose Lyric on them and was good to go!

Huge false lashes are always a winnerI do not leave for a night out without them!

The End Look

Eyes which make you take a second look! I’m happy with the results and most importantly I feel like me! The boyfriend liked them, used words such as “heavy” and “eyecatching” (excuse the pun) so thats a good enough opinion for me. Thanks for reading!

Moshi Moshi! Japan as a blonde.

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (16 votes, average: 3.19 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

Konnichiwa! Firstly, I’ve had a huge image change since my last post! I’m now a BLONDE! I couldn’t believe it when I saw the Brunette vs Blonde challenge as I’d only been a blonde for mere hours!

Unfortunately the John Freida Brunette Shampoo had already been confirmed so I couldn’t try out the product and have my say on whos best, as I was busy prepaparing for  8 days in Tokyo for my belated 21st belated celebrations with my boyfriend.

The Shrines

Personally, the image of Tokyo before I went was beautiful red and green high rise Temples, also known as Shrines. This image did not disappoint. Amazing ancient buildings with stories of war, religion and sorrow behind them. I visited quite a few shrines including the Meiji-Jingu in Harajuku, which was just jawdroppingly serene and picturesque.

The Toys

Toys and novelty items are massive in Japan. The majority of teens carry Teddybears with them, or cartoon/bright phone charms on their phones or bags emblazened with Hello Kitty or similar. Its so lovely and really makes me wish England was as happy and adventurous with their fashion! We went to many different huge toy stores, my favourite being Kiddyland, 6 floors of toy heaven. Here’s a selection of photos!

Amazing hello kitty ice cream parlour next to KiddyLand!

I was in my element on the Hello Kitty Floor!

The new Toy Story film is as big if not bigger over in Japan!

Anyone who knows me knows me knows my utter obsession with Hello Kitty! As you can imagine it was everywhere. From Keyrings to giant teddies to the bags I’m modelling in the photo! I have to admit the lure of such Hello Kitty items in Tokyo did definitely play a part in me booking the trip!

The Animals

On our first full day we went to Ueno Zoo which housed some rare and amazing animals. Since primary school I’ve always wanted to see a Red Panda in person (obviously influenced by Rosie who I always remember was obsessed with them!). They really didn’t disappoint. They look such delicate things, with their cute waddle and beautiful fur. They couldn’t keep still so getting a photo was a bit of a problem…

Amazing Owl

Gorilla and its baby – so cute

RED PANDA!!!

The weird

2 words: Vending Machines. They are obsessed!  Because the climate is so humid, drinks are needed so often vending machines are installed on practically every corner! If you needed a drink you wouldn’t worry about finding a nearby shop. They’re so convenient. Everything from Coca Cola to Chocolate Milk was sold in these machines. I wish England was as advanced as Japan!

Cat Café’s, another strange phenomenon in Japan! You pay around  1000 Japanese Yen (around £8) for 90 minutes with these pedigree cats. Whether you want to stroke them, read books with them or simply sit around and have a drink whilst the cats enjoy their slumber – its all possible here. I particulary fell in love with the above cat, just look at its face!

The food is somewhat adventurous! We ended up going to the biggest Fish market in Japan, which supplies 90% of the fish to all restaurants over there. It was insane. I saw huge tuna fish heads (believe me, HUGE!) and octopuses (small selection as above).  I ate sushi in the nearby restaurant too which was an experience, albeit a tasty one.

I could literally go on for days but I’ve already supplied you with far too many photographs. I still have post holiday blues which is why I’ve taken so long writing this blog! I would go back in a heartbeat, although the 16 hour journey including connections is quite the trek. Hope you all enjoyed the photographs! The rest are on my website http://www.holliecookson.com

BeachBreak Live June 2010: a photo venture

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (15 votes, average: 4.20 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

I am lucky enough to work for an online zine (godisinthetvzine.co.uk !) where I get to go free to a lot of gigs in exchange for providing them with photos. So, when a 4 day festival opportunity came up in the form of Beach Break Live, South Wales I jumped at the chance!  It was amazing and such a great experience to document.

The one thing you shouldn’t expect to get at a festival is sleep! I had literally about 6 hours all week, I somehow acquired a cold (standard festival flu!) and couldn’t for the life of me switch off at night, however tired I was. The stench of the toilets, loud conversations, sunstroke and freezing cold  temperatures are not a good mix. The festival journey started with a 6.30am train so being stupid I opted to do an allnighter. What a bad decision that was! So tip here – stock up on sleep before! Or at least be prepared to spend money on plenty of energy drinks. Oh and pack earplugs!

The photos…

So on the first day, me and the best friend went wandering around the beautiful gardens. The festival was based in Pembrey Country Park in Burry Port, Wales. Honestly, it was stunning! Amazing forests, trees and of course the beach. One of the best beaches I’ve ever seen in the UK! It also boasted things such as knitting and hulahooping workshops, a vintage funfair, a pub to watch the World Cup, facepainting, massages, clothes stalls and sumo wrestling amongst many, many others!

vintage funfair!

What on earth is this I hear you ask? Apparently the tiny fish suck away the dead skin leaving your feet as good as new.  The Therapy Sucks stall will be offering foot/hand massages, given by small fish in individual spa tanks. The fish have no teeth and use a powerful, harmless suction to remove dead skin, which can be massively beneficial to people with psoriasis and eczema. They also secrete an enzyme Diathanol, which promotes skin rejuvenation and revitalisation.” Interesting, but definitely not for me.

My beautiful best friend chilling in an open music tent! She’s wearing a lovely flower garland which is all the rage at festivals at the moment…

The music…

There was so many genres of music on at the festival, from beatboxers to drum and bass, to your standard indie to rnb. I managed to catch a fair range with my favourites being either New Young Pony Club or Vampire Weekend. Calvin Harris also completely smashed it on the second night! The atmosphere was electric as he belted out all his classic hits namely ‘Acceptable in the 80s’ being the show stopper! I managed to photograph a fair few:

Vampire Weekend

New Young Pony Club

I also got to see and photo Ellie Goulding, Plan B, Beardyman, Chase and Status, Band of Skulls, Annie Mac and many more!

The fashion…

The one thing that stood out to me during the festival was the head gear the girls were sporting. Beautiful floral garlands and beaded headbands really put that finishing touch to an outfit. I think the likes of Leighton Meester aka. Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl and of course Pixie Lott are to blame for this trend. I’m a massive fan of florals and wasn’t seen without either a flower or headband in my head all week! They also distract from dull looking unwashed hair (with the aid of dry shampoo of course) and keep you looking glam if you’re feeling a bit lazy with your outfit. I’ve found some on trend headbands for the perfect festival look:

1. Miss Selfridge – £9

2. River Island £5.99 (I own this!)

3. River Island £7.99

4. Ebay £6

So that was my wonderful week at BeachBreak! I’ve still got hundreds of photos to go through and edit but I enjoy it so it’s not all bad! One festival down and hopefully a few more to go! Definitely the best way to spend a summer…

xx

Hello again! L’Oreal, Simple and Summer.

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (11 votes, average: 3.45 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

Firstly, hello to all the new Superdrug Summer Insiders! (Apart from Rosanna, hiya I know you haha) I’m Hollie, 21 from Warrington.

I’ve just finished my second year of university in Manchester where I study Photography. So I’m free as a bird for Summer!

A few pointers for what I’ve got planned:

  • Beach Break Live festival in South Wales with my best friend Emily next week. I secured a photopass so I get to photograph all the acts and go backstage etc. Very exciting. Just might be cutting it in the wild world that is music photography!
  • In 18 days I’m off to Tokyo, Japan with my boyfriend. SO ridiculously excited. I live and breathe Hello Kitty and Tokyo fashion, its beautiful and I can’t wait to sample the japanese life myself and photograph all its amazingness!
  • I’m in the process of sorting out a little camping holiday to St Ives/Newquay with my boyfriend. We had the best time last summer which needs to be experienced again.

Apart from that, I’m going to have a lazy, chilled out summer hopefully soaking up the british sun. Fingers Crossed.

A few weeks ago Superdrug sent me a lovely package which I had yet to review because I was so busy and my mind seemed to be elsewhere. Here are the goodies…

Lovely bag filled with Simple goodies.

Sweet products! Amazing for sensitive skin like mine, not too perfumed and make my skin very soft. Excellent!

And the best bit – L’Oreal Volume Million lashes and Glam Shine lip gloss in Cerise.

I have to be honest, I wasn’t too keen on the Volume Million lashes at first. It promised to make my lashes look really thick, but at first it just made  them all clumpy and hard. Upon applicating the mascara to my lashes a couple more times in the duration of a few days, my lashes seemed to benefit and I was sporting some very fluttering, thick lashes! Practice makes perfect I guess. It’s one of those mascaras that you buy and never look back. I tried using an old Max Factor mascara against it and I could really tell the difference. Hurrah L’Oreal you proved me wrong!

In other news, it was my 21st birthday last week and I had an action packed week. I went to Alton Towers on my actual birthday with my family which was amazing. I conquered my fear of vertical drop rides by going on Oblivion, and I’m so glad I did! It lasted a mere 10 seconds or so, but the thrill of it was incredible. My heart was literally in my mouth! Then on the Saturday I gathered all my friends to my house for champagne and nibbles then the limo arrived and took us to Liverpool for a night out. Such a night to remember :)

I’m in the middle with the black and white dress and red heels! Rosie is next to me in the black floral dress!

To  top off my 21st I also got a tattoo which I’ve wanted forever. I’m so happy with it!

A lovely pink bow, just how I wanted it, made up!

Just got the news of the next insiders challenge which is Festival themed. Can’t wait to start my post! Just like to thank Superdrug again for allowing me to be an Insider for a second year. Can’t thank you enough. To the new Insiders, you’re in for one hell of a summer! xo

March – An up and down month

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (2 votes, average: 5.00 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

I’ve had a very, very mixed month. Some highs, and some very low lows. A close friend of mine passed away, it was his funeral this week. It was very emotional as you can imagine. But instead of grieving we’ve all decided to really support eachother and think of all the good times we had with him. Rest in Peace Dan x

Superdrug have been really kind these past couple of weeks! They sent me two lovely foundations, ones I’ve seen on the adverts recently! Its called Matte Morphose by Loreal. An absolute dream to use…

the lovely packaging is a plus too!

I got a porcelain one and a slightly darker creamy natural, both beautiful to use.

So, the first thing I noticed was the amazing texture to the foundation. So soft and delicate, felt like I was putting clouds on my face! So impressed by that, I applied it to my face and noticed the even tone. It really hid my flaws and did a great coverage of all areas of my face. It was a perfect colour match too to my pale skin, which is a first! Usually I feel slightly washed out when I’ve been using other foundation, but this one really gave me a fresh and healthy looking glow. When I run out, I’m so going to Superdrug to top up! I really don’t have a bad word to say about it at all!

lovely creamy and smooth texture!

I have to say, I got a bit spoilt this month! I also acquired some other lovely little goodies…

I’ve yet to use these, but upon smelling them I really need to get using, they smell wonderful. Thank you so much Superdrug!!

Unfortunately this morning, my iPhone decided to break. With the week I’d had (what with the funeral) you think life would spare me! But no, I’m left with a very unpredictable piece of technology that won’t allow me to call anyone or send texts. At least I’m still able to use my beloved Facebook and Twitter apps, and the lovely Hipstamatic app as featured above. I’m in love! I just really hope I’m covered for this damage, and hopefully a new handset will be in my posession soon.

I’ll leave you with two images, one of myself before a impromptu house party last night, and another of a Hello Kitty purse I bought a couple of weeks ago…

sporting a lovely £3.00 red flower from New Look :)

I’d been using the same purse for 4 years, it was time for a change!

Thats all for now, going to see if I can fix my iPhone some more. xo

Barry M Beauty Evening!

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (5 votes, average: 4.20 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

On Thursday night, I brought along my best friend to the Barry M Beauty Evening in the Golden Square mall in Warrington. We were really looking forward to it, especially the promise of free makeovers, goodie bags and maincures. I brought along my camera to capture the events of the evening.

When we arrived I honestly thought the evening had been cancelled! No posters were guiding us into the store, I was a little worried to say the least! But we eventually found it, at the back of the store on a little makeover stall. There was only one goodie bag left, the assistant said it wasn’t a very good one as they had been taken already. But nevermind! Superdrug kindly sent me a £20 giftcard to spend for reviews, and a lovely Barry M cosmetic bag filled with make up arrived in the post, which was just splendid!  Definitely made up for the lack of goodies on the night! Alas, here are the first set of photos!

amazing make up from no other than Barry M…which the artists were using

make up artist in action!

a lady having a free makeover done

Unfortunately no makeovers were offered to me, I didn’t particularly mind though as I was already “made up” so to speak. As we’d arrived at 6pm and the event had already been on for an hour, I think the influx of people had stopped, as there was no one really shopping by this hour. I think the first hour really must have been busy, which is a shame as we had missed all the fun! But nevertheless, I went to all the make up counters to choose which items to buy.

I ended up choosing Sleek’s gold liquid eyeliner, which is just a dream to use. Definitely my new favourite brand. Their whole packaging look is really eyecatching, and their make up is just really good….more about them later! I needed some new concealer, so 2true’s 3 in one concealer did the trick! I also picked up a blue eyeliner and pink lipstick from Barry M. Really lovely stuff!

from my free goodie bag – I ended up sharing some with Emily as she couldn’t get one. Love that shampoo!

Cosmetic case and make up courtesy of Bronwyn @ Superdrug!

All in all, it wasn’t a bad night. I think the make up reconciled for the lack of interesting happenings at the event. There wasn’t really much to photograph in the end, as a photographer I love to capture the atmosphere but with not many attendee’s there wasn’t a lot to take snaps of. Although we didn’t take advantage of the makeovers on offer, I think it was a successful event nationwide for Superdrug. The staff seemed really into it, photographing the makeover constantly for the superdrug site I’m guessing!

The next night, I decided to try out some of my purchases…

I used my free Fabulous for Barry M black eyeliner, gold eyeliner underneath and Urban Decay purple eyeshadow underneath this. Topped off with Gosh mascara. I wanted to create a striking layered effect with the colour.

Barry M pink lipstick in 100 for my lips – love this colour! Its not for everyone, its very very light pink, but is definitely a contrast to all the red lipstick I wear!

Overall I think I the make up used really complimented each other. It felt very fresh and very me. Something I’d wear time and time again and feel confident wearing. Kudos for Superdrug for allowing me to buy such wonderful make up, they’ve really broadened my make up palette, and got me to try things I wouldn’t have worn before. I’m super happy!

Infact, I think I’m a little obsessed with buying cosmetics now. I popped in to the ‘drug today and bought more!! Had a hectic Valentines day, I’ll get them photographed later (including another Sleek buy – I’m in love!) and show you the gifts I received from my boyfriend.

Hope you’re all having a loved up February 14th! x

NYC FTW

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (5 votes, average: 4.20 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

NYC, my favourite make up brand, kindly sent me a bundle of products to try out and review! I’ve been wearing their make up ever since I started earning. They’re possibly the cheapest make up out there, but don’t be put off by this – their quality is amazing and such value for money.

The “Rose Glow Colour Wheel Mosaic Face Powder” is hands down my favourite blusher out there. I love the cream rose and brown tones of the palette, the colours really do come together to form a rich glow. I bought this product when it was new, but unfortunately lost it on a night out a while ago, so could not believe it when it was in my package! Its so easy to use aswell, no fuss just simply applied with a brush (can’t be doing with all the mousses/small blusher products out there!).  I do love my blusher!  As a super pale girl, I love adding a bit of pink glaze to my porcelain foundation!

I love dramatic eye make up. In the past year or so I’ve looked up to Taylor Momsen for embracing the gothic eyeliner and dark eyes. I literally never leave the house with black eyes so to speak! I don’t feel myself without it. I’ve been struggling without liquid eyeliner so receiving the NYC version was a godsend. I created light flicks on both sides of my eye for a more dramatic effect. I then used The NYC “Metro Quartet Eyeshadow” brown shade all over my eyelid and cream at the sides. A bit of a change from my usual heavy black Urban Decay appliance, but I really love this look!

notice the flicks! really love this. Notice the slight pink glow on my cheeks!

i think my eyes look really smokey and effective!

I then added the Sparkle Eye Dust under my eyes to create a glittery shimmering effect. This really dazzled when it caught the light. To top off my look I used the “Lip Sliders Tinted Sugar Fairy Lip Balm” which although was quite sticky and thick, stayed on for a long time and kept my lips nice and shiny, plus it smelt good too!

can see the brown more in this photo!

So that was my lovely NYC package! I’ve been spoilt rotten with make up recently, which I’m not complaining about. I’ve also spoilt myself, by buying some jewellery online. My two favourites:

I do love my kitsch jewellery! Anyway I best get some shut eye, I have university at 10am tomorrow. Then come Thursday night I’ll be attending the Barry M Beauty Evening in Warrington, can’t wait to get some bargains! Barry M is amazing and I swear by its nail varnish. Until next time xo

P.S sorry for the quality of the photos, I got my new iPhone and I’m truly obsessed with it, I love it like a baby. Plus my big camera is on charge!

Hello all. I seem to have neglected this again. But I’m back with a little update about my Christmas/New Year!

Well, Superdrug were exceptionally giving  this Christmas, and treated me to an amazing gift box packed with make up goodies. I got a GOSH bag too, with the amazing diamante eyelashes I have wanted for ages. I got so many compliments on them on my night out; they really brought an edge to my make up. They literally haven’t left my face since haha. I’ll apologise now for the picture quality, I only had my camera phone to hand…

I later applied more thick black make up (Urban Decay – my saviour) and pink lipstick to contrast with my barry m green and pink nails (I call them Refresher bar nails).

Since my last post, I’ve also had my nose pierced! Unfortunately a week or so after I’d had it done, I was struck down with the flu so cue a piercing infection for Christmas – wasn’t nice :( . My Christmas wasn’t the best this year: flu combined with a 24 hour bug and chest infection meant I couldn’t eat my roast dinner and was confined to bed for most of Christmas Eve! Very grim, but well on the mend now. My nose piercing in action (with my new fur coat – I’m in love!)

The snow has well and truly crippled the UK, but that hasn’t stopped me photographing like crazy. I can’t get over how incredible everything looked with the beautiful white glaze. Apparently there is more forecast for tonight, which has gotten me all excited. I just love it! I used this as an opportunity to dress my dog up as an elf…he wasn’t too impressed.

hes actually the cutest thing ever.

For new year, me and Ed went to our favourite italian restaurant, then came home to watch Jools Holland’s Hootenanny. I’m not big on New Year, so a quiet one suited me fine!

I’m going to cut this short as I have a million and one photography projects to finish before my deadline on friday. The only one downfall about this snow is I’ve been far too distracted with it and not been focused on my work at all! Nevermind, I’ll be back later with photos of recent purchases/presents and make up goodies! xo

Dear Santa Love Hollie x

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (7 votes, average: 3.43 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

It’s that time of year again where I compile a list of bits and bobs I’ve been lusting over and bookmarking for the past few months. This year Asos seems to be my favourite shop. It has everything and more; designer dresses, own branded amazing jewellery, clothes and bags. I just wish it was a shop on the highstreet; I’d be in there all the time checking the just-in must-haves.

So, my Dear Santa /Mum, Dad, Boyfriend, Brother list is as follows…

A beautiful vintage style pearl handbag from Asos (obviously) which is a steal at £20!

Disney Couture Magic Castle Necklace. How amazing? I’ve wanted this since they started doing Disney Couture on Asos. When I first showed my dad it was £25 but now its gone up to full price….lets just hope he has purchased it already!

Beautiful Vivienne Westwood heart heels. I have already been bought these by the boyfriend! I’m so excited to wear them. Will definitely be my statement winter item.

island bag

Floral tapestry bag from River Island. I spotted a RI package in Ed’s room….oops!

panda hat

Panda beanie from River Island again. I’M IN LOVE!

Pink Bape Watch…on ebay! I have already bidded for this and won, so I’m waiting for the package to arrive. I don’t know about you, but I was obsessed with “Baby g” watches when I was younger, but never owned one (many disappointed Christmases at my household ha!) so I’m kind-of reliving my youth with this watch. Its by Pharrell Williams’s clothing line A Bathing Ape!

I’ll leave it there as I seem to be waffling, but I want so much this year, curse my internet browsing habits.

I still have so much to buy, luckily Ed has given me a list of things he wants including football shirts, hoodies, and shirts so that will be easy enough. But this year I just can’t think of the life of me what to buy the parents and brother. I’m tired of buying them DVDs which end up staying in their plastic  the whole year. So this year I’m determined to be a little different.

Another busy  week  this week. Going to see Lily Allen on Wednesday again, managed to get them for £15 each on ebay, which I’m made up about! Photoshoots in Thursday and Friday in both Manchester and London which I’m both excited and nervous about. Stay tuned for the photos! xo

P.S I’ll be back later tonight with my very own “Get The Look” inspired post, and finally catch up on my reviews :)

Bit of an Update!

1 Star2 Stars3 Stars4 Stars5 Stars (3 votes, average: 2.33 out of 5)
Loading ... Loading ...

Since my last post I’ve been rather busy! Jonas Brothers ended up being one of the best days in history (!) but with unsucessful stalking attempts I’m sad to say. I’ll cut a long story short, but we waited in 8 hours in total, 4 hours outside the M.E.N gates for possible soundcheck passes, and 4 hours after the gig waiting at their hotel. But we were front row and had the best seats in the house so I can’t complain! Heres some photos (which nobody will care about…probably…except Phoebe..?)

Nick Jonas!

Nick again!

JB

Joe all taken with my rubbish digital camera as Ididnt want to risk bringing my SLR

Apart from Uni and updating my photography/research journal I’ve made time for going out and such. My dad treated me to a trip to see Manchester United vs Tottenham tonight, in his company’s executive box. Four course meal and an endless tab for drinks; its safe to say I had the best time. Don’t you just love generous dads? :) It made up for being rather depressed that most of my course are in New York right now…!

I have lots of exciting news! I’m off to London next week to photograph 2 up-and-coming music projects with all expenses paid and a nice hefty pay cheque at the end, which is just suiting me perfect for Christmas! Clothes Show Live is on the agenda for next week too, hoping to go either on the Monday or Tuesday. If it all goes to plan I’ll be seeing Lily Allen Wednesday in Liverpool, or maybe photographing her..fingers crossed! And to top it off, I’ll be reviewing some things for Superdrug’s DARE magazine in the near future. Things are looking up!

I also promise to photograph my goodies I received from Superdrug a couple of weeks ago, must must do that, I keep forgetting for some reason! My mum has also hoarded away the Tea Tree stuff I gave her, so will hopefully get to do a mini shoot and review of that too. Until next time x

OH. MY. JONAS.

It seems i’ve been AWOL again, apologies apologies! Since my disappearance, I’ve received tons of Superdrug goodies which were rather lovely weren’t they? I also got a lovely little Tea Tree pack as a few months ago the own branded Superdrug wipes etc. went missing in the post :( My mother seemed to appreciate the facial scrubs and various creams so its all wonderful! Unfortunately I’m in Manchester and my treats are back in hometown of Warrington, but come the weekend I’ll be able to get reviewing and photographing!

As you may already know, at 20 years of age I’m a massive Jonas Brothers fan. They keep me young. We bought tickets back in May for their Manchester date, and 6 months down the line its nearly time to take our seats in front row (!) and sing along like 10 year olds to every single song! Can’t believe how quickly its come around; the gig is tomorrow but our jonas-journey doesn’t end there! We will be hanging around outside their hotel for a couple of hours hopefully to catch a glimpe of our favourite brothers! I can’t believe I’m admitting to that, but what the heck I’m dead proud! I’m just dreading the minute the concert finishes… BUT I’M SO EXCITED! I’ve never been more exciting for anything, even Busted when I was 15. (You know you love my music choices) Can’t believe its tomorrow! It feels like Christmas Eve I swear! (I’m sorry Phoebe and DG for inundating you with JB related tweets, and the rest of facebook for that matter)

Apart from acting like a child I’ve been photographing some things aswell. I went to the Manchester Christmas lights switch on last week. Alexandra Burke and Mr Hudson were the entertainment and as you can imagine it was chaotic and so very busy. Got a few photos of the fireworks but I liked this one in particular…

I’m going to have to keep this short and sweet, as I have a chinese to tuck into and then I’m hauling myself back to Manchester to prepare for JB day!

Speak in the week,

Wow, feels like forever since I last blogged. Apologies! I’ve been busy with 2nd year, arranging shoots and preparing for for projects. Turns out 3 bands want me to photograph them in the next two weeks which is really good news! Plus I’m shooting some fashion images tomorrow for a male model’s portfolio – hell yeah!

Last week was 20% discount nights at Topshop for students and as you can probably guess, it was utter MAYHEM! I’ve never seen a shop so full, the queues were circling right round the top floor and you had to squeeze through to look through the rails. Grim. Manage to get myself a lovely cardigan and check shirt I’ve been lusting over for a few weeks. The best part is they didn’t actually charge me for the cardigan! She rang it through but it didn’t appear on the receipt, but I didn’t realise until after I’d left so thats a pretty guilt-free concious I have ha! Its beautiful though, I can’t seem to get both items off my back at the moment. Photos…

I picked up this bad boy for £1 at poundworld, how good?! You all know I’m a massive JB fan (so is my bezzie) so we were so chuffed when we found this! Originally £10 aswell…

IMG_4958my dad managed to get me a blackberry (I gave the phone I won to my mum and couldn’t ask for it back – too mean!) I love it!!!

a photo I took to test if my lens was working…and ended up liking!

SO yeah, thats my life in photo format at the moment! Need to give a little shout out to DEAFINITELY GIRLY who won the magnificent trip to Barcelona – so jealous! But she deserved to win so much, proper proud of her :) I wish I could fit myself in her suitcase mind, I love Barcelona and its gorgeous photogenic hotspots!

Guess I have a bit more time to include my photos from the Wedding before I get ready to go out (We’re going to “Pop Bubble Rock” a cheesy pop punk night – THEY’RE GOING TO PLAY BUSTED, HOW CAN WE NOT GO!!). So here are a few:

Beautiful Vicky and Chris….

So me and Lucy got to go to London Fashion Weekend after a stressful few days arranging transport and breaking phones (more about that another time…)

I didn’t really know what to expect, even after reading the FAQ’s. Like Phoebe said, I’d also been to Clothes Show Live and was expecting something like that, but it was so upmarket, I felt well out of place! So many OTT dressed girls with 6 inch heels….sequin blazers everywhere! I finally chose an outfit, and LBD with a nautical style blazer (yeah, I’m finally on the blazer trend, cringe) and pinky purple flats with gold chain detail (the only shoes I brought back from uni, embarrassingly)  and the black and white bag I bought from Topshop with my voucher. It all went together nicely, considering the mad rush from Manchester and with 2 hours sleep the night before! I had to get up at half 6 to shower and get ready for the 9.20am train, I was absolutely knackered and feeling very nauseous with the flu (I was near barfing too many times on the train, oh dear) but nothing that a Burger King and a few bottles of water could cure I had hoped…

Met the bff at Waterloo after my solo train journey to Euston (quite proud of myself!) and we set off to Temple on the tube. Somerset House was beautiful…loved all the different rooms, although it was like a maze! The Superdrug booth didn’t fail to impress, I met Mark first, who treated me to a little goodie bag which was promised due to missing SW4 and Get Loaded Weekend.(See picture, I love the 1 second nail  varnish – wow!. I opted out of the manicure, only because I have a slight phobia of people looking at my hands ( ! yes, freaky I know).

But its all okay, because I have painted my nails a gorgeous dark metallic purple which was in my 2true goodie bag – I’m actually in love with this brand, the blue and silver glittery mascara are utterly amazing! So is the lip and cheek tint – smells delicious too. We made our way into the middle area, thinking we had tickets to the Catwalk show but it was all sold out – gutted! So we bought the “show bag” instead, which was packed with more goodies:

So it was time for 180 Strand…

It was even better than Somerset House!! Jam packed with amazing brands, PPQ being my most favourite but was a little disappointed with what it had to offer. Luella was brilliant, bags for less than £40, can’t go wrong. Just wish I had the money to indulge! Ended up getting a beautiful cake necklace from “Les Nereides”, which was totally up my street! Will definitely need to check out their online shop! After hours of wandering the dreaded flu was catching up with me, so managed to make it to Euston finally for a quiet 2 hour journey.

Some photos from the day:

the beautiful jewellery was definitely my favourite aspect of the whole day.

Can’t thank Superdrug enough for this, going back next year for sure!

Anyway, I just roped my best friend (I live next door to her at uni :’)) to try some 2true make up, which is bloody wonderful by the way, so here at the photos!
